Batwho wrote:When Max Renn goes looking for edgy new shows for his sleazy cable TV station, he stumbles across the pirate broadcast of a hyperviolent torture show called Videodrome. As he struggles to unearth the origins of the program, he embarks on a hallucinatory journey into a shadow world of right-wing conspiracies, sadomasochistic sex games, and bodily transformation. Starring James Woods and Deborah Harry in one of her first film roles, Videodrome is one of writer/director David Cronenberg’s most original and provocative works, fusing social commentary with shocking elements of sex and violence. With groundbreaking special effects makeup by Academy Award®-winner Rick Baker, Videodrome has come to be regarded as one of the most influential and mind-bending science fiction films of the 1980s.

And the extras:
NB: The source quality of some of these extras (particularly Samurai Dreams, Fear on Film and the Videodrome transmissions) isn't great.
Forging the New Flesh, a new half-hour documentary featurette by filmmaker Michael Lennick about the creation of Videodrome’s video and prosthetic makeup effects.
Forging the New Flesh
Fear on Film, a 26-minute roundtable discussion from 1982 between filmmakers Cronenberg, John Carpenter, John Landis, and Mick Garris.
Fear on Film
The complete footage of Samurai Dreams, the softcore porn film-within-a-film, with a commentary track by David Cronenberg on audio 1 and a commentary track by cinematographer Mark Irwin and video effects supervisor Michael Lennick on audio track 2. Note that this was originally shot without sound, so purists may want to turn off the speakers/turn down the volume to get the true DVD experience. Particularly anal purists are welcome to create a blank 5 minute mp3 and mux it in to the file provided here; in the interests of space, I haven't done so.
Samuri Dreams
The uninterrupted Videodrome transmissions, including some not included in the final cut of the film, with audio commentary by DP Mark Irwin and special video effects supervisor Michael Lennick. As above, shot without sound originally, so the same warnings apply. These transmissions are entirely safe to watch. I know, because Brian O'Blivion told me so himself.
The Videdrome Transmissions
The Making of Videodrome, a publicity featurette, including some behind-the-scenes production footage and interviews.
Making Of
Helmet-Cam Test, a demo reel for one of the film's FX shots, with commentary by special video effects supervisor Michael Lennick. Again, the original was shot without sound.
Helmet-Cam Test
Camera, a short film starring Videodrome’s Les Carlson, written and directed by Cronenberg.
