Mallozzi Updates Fans
Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi recently gave some details on an upcoming Season 8 story arc, "We’re looking at the return of an old villain and sort of a Freddy vs Jason type throwdown, a big villain vs villain conflict on a cosmic scale". Click below for more details.
He also stated that there would be a big change for a main character, but would not give any further details on this. From recent interviews in the UK TV Zone Special magazine this could well be Sam Carter. In this interview Tapping tells Rob Cooper (Executive Producer), "The fans are going to hate me", Rob said "No they won't" and she said, "Oh yes they will".
Mallozzi also claims that there are no dangers of running out of ideas for SG-1, saying he even has plans extending as far as a
12th or 13th season !!

MS: Well, never say never. We were happy to go back to do Season 8 – the numbers in the US are, apparently, growing. So, who knows. Everybody knows that when something has yet to reach its peak, companies are loathed to axe it. We’ll have to wait and see. The lucrative side of the show wasn’t in question, in terms of whether or not it was financially feasible. Having said that, at this point, after eight years of a show, it might just not be financially feasible anymore.
We really take every year as it comes. I mean, I took the seventh season with the notion that it was going to be the last as well, like after leaving for a year, then coming back, and thinking, “Well, it’s just one year of the show,�
