Friday Night Lights - pretty good. also disappointing though. nothing that hasn't been done before. still, everything it does is executed pretty well.

Actually watched tremors 3 again last night....

Wasn't as bad as I recall (& badmouthed) it....

One just .....ehm......shouldn't expect a tremors film...... :wacky:

(Still think the Cgi is a thorn in the eye though....but let's not drag in that discussion again...)

seen quite a few flicks lately ones i can remember are:

The Day After Tomorrow - went into this one with very low expectations and was quite suprised. i enjoyed this way more than i thought i would. not sumthing i will watch again real soon but very entertaining.
Resident Evil Apocalypse - man, i was disappointed by this one :( mediocre at best. nuff said!!
One Missed Call - rehashed asian horror by Takashi Miike. not as whacked out as usual by teh director but very well done though. def worth a watch.
Thought Crimes - i actually liked this movie quite a lot. feels a bit like a TV movie/series at times but done reasonably well.
Dead Or Alive: Hanzaisha - been a while since i saw this and is still just as fun :)
Haute Tension - finally got round to watching this one. think the original title is more appropriate than the uk one (switchblade romance). enjoyed this a lot. great atmosphere and live up to it's name (high tension)!!
X2 - don't think too much needs to be said bout this one. very enjoyable :)
not seen The Hitcher for a while but is a classic :)

i just watched Gremlins, first time watching it since 1988 it seemed more horror related and gory then i remember lol

Also watched The Day After Tomorrow the other day and whatever anyone says i enjoyed it and i agree with someones (think it was johndoe or dinky)'s comments in another thread on here about the sfx in it being high end tech and look good in the film

and to top it off i just watched (litterally just) White Chicks and it was enjoyable mindless fun which is what i was after so i got what i wanted, yeah the premise is flimsy at best, and the humour was hit & miss but i didnt expect it to be on the same level as a true comedy classic like Monty Python's Holy Grail (incidently watched the extras disc to that yesterday

heh - I said I'd heard the sfx were the only</i> reason to see the movie, followed by a parenthetical "noway in a hundred years would I watch that piece of trash"

sorry. couldn't sleep thinking my name was associated in a positive light toward that movie.

saw Surviving Christmas today. it was alright. previews were better. not that the previews had the only worthwhile scenes (which everbody says, but what do you expenct: that's what previews do). I just thought the previews were a more entertaining movie than the movie. besides, when tony soprano whacks ben affleck in the preview with a shovel and then pokes him, ben squeals "ow." in the movie, he's just out cold and doesn't say anything. frankly, that scene was my preconceived highlight. on another not, kelly bundy is HOT! she must be in her 30s by now...surely...but she certainly doesn't look it to me. or if she does, it's a 30s that may youth-hungry eyes wanna devour.

no the fx arent the only reason to go see day after tomorrow, watching jake gyllenhaal's attempt to act his way out a paper bag is  but i like the plot too, also its one of a very limited few films i can think of like this where the yankee president dies instead of being saved to rule the world again

no rebecca chambers lovin for you tonight dinky :wacky:

watched my dvd of the 1943 batman serial today, and also stand by me (havent seen that film in years), watched I, Robot last night

ok film didnt hate it, i was entertained for 2 hours as usual with modern films way too much use of cgi and some standard will smith level acting

also last night watched bridget jones diary on dvd with friends, i cant say no to renee zellweger no matter how dodgy the film, good job shes not in lord of the shitty rings then or i would be in real trouble

I've just watched Predator on Channel 5 and what a dissappointment, it was cut to ribbons. I was going to watch Alien 3, but after that chopping fiasco, I'll watch the dvd instead.

Just saw STEAMBOY.... once again a great example of how scared a people can get after getting nuked... the movie itself was crap... the plot, well there just wasn't one.... the animation and the designs were amazing though....

Still if watching buildings getting destroyed for aa hour and a 1/2 is your thing then this is the movie for you...

Really highlighted the diffrence between western and jap disarster movies... western ones are all about "crisis managment" saving lives making the best of the situation... while jap flicks are full on out of control chaos!!!
