watched 2 films today

paycheck - was pretty good rather enjoyable and something a little different, shame ben assflick is in it but what can ya do

the girl next door - sexy lasses aside this film was just average, kinda like a poor mans risky business and with a porn star instead of a hooker, but if u get the chance watch risky business instead of the girl next door

I saw Control Room today before work. Too political for my tastes. I meant to go see Metallica, but the theater changed showtimes. I'm gonna see Metallica & Super Size Me this week sometime, as soon as tommorow.

amusingly i saw a film today that had denis leary in, a great film called National Lampoons Loaded Weapon 1, its about the 24th (not exagerated either) time ive seen it coz its a great hilarious movie, also watched the hollow man afterwards, it was ok but not as good as it couldve been, and its obvious that kevin bacon had a nose job sometime between tremors and the hollow man, nice effects on the invisible and re visible bits

dunno why I originally posted this in the movie guessing game but I did :?

anyway...Neverwhere BBC series. I could live with the terrible FX cuz tv series on a budget, but my GOD this was paint by the numbers shite. I hope that was a bad example of what y'all get. I usually just watch bbc nature shows, and they're pretty good.

*deep breath*
I saw Passion of Christ (last time it was a crap quality version). Just a basic snuff movie.

*deeper breath* - nuts to that!

Someone, for the love of f*cking sweet zombie Jesus-Mahatma-Moses-Mary-Mother-Father-Ronald McDonald-Nosferatu-Ra-Zeus-pygmy f*cking God kill that mother f*cker Wes Anderson! he has to be not only the worst f*cking director ever to grace the screen, have the tackiest 'vision' of any corporate Hollywood cum bucket but he can't write for shit, with or without a major franchise. Why the f*ck does he keep getting hired?? WHY?

Someone f*cking shoot him, or shoot me, either way I won't have to sit through another holocaust next time he takes upon himself to arse rape another franchise or even attempt to put out another movie.... does this guy think its funny or something? It's the only explanation as to how all his films, even with a gift franchise/concept, f*ck up so badly. It boggles the universe, not just the old noggin. :o

This one time, like 3 weeks ago, I saw these two gay guys kissing in the park, and that was the gayest thing I saw until I saw Alien vs. Predator.

Absolutely shocking, crap... even for a predator film. Okay its not A4 "its not just crap its mind-numbingly, ass rapingly terrible", its just the cheesiest, most pathetic attempt at a film I've seen for a long time. I cringed so hard my teeth now protrude through the back of my skull!

Total toss!

I will pay good money for a t-shirt with that printed on it. Time to start up a merchandise section I think.

Back on-topic, I just saw Return of the Living Dead 3, which turned out much better than expected in a Romeo and Juliet meets some self-mutilation based fun kinda way.

:? why? I liked it but...no motivation whatsoever to see it again. tell me you don't have a crush on buffy's little sister.
:P

just got back from Exorcist: The Beginning. I guess I had fun. really don't like stock horror. like the archaeology of it - clues to the past and whatnot. playing with myth is always fun. there's enough mystery in it to be enjoyable once around. plenty of plot holes though (literally and figuratively - archaeology dig ya know!).

watched AvP again (hey, I had a free ticket for buying the predator CE dvd). second go around made me kinda angry. not spud-caliber. but more like...wtf? how are they going to continue the franchise after this? the character didn't join the preds. this isn't a video game. you can't pull the same friggin' gimmick where a human & pred team-up and the human gets "knighted" into the predator brotherhood after scalping some aliens with a new character </i> in the future - my dog wouldn't watch that again. so in that sense, I think lizard boy is right: Mr. Anderson killed the franchise.

that's just sad! :wacky: That would be like watching a something utterly cra... oh right, you are  lol, well fair does to you guys, but you need an injection of some kind of decent comedy film or your in serious danger of becoming a spoonfed hollywood comedy towelboy! Be free from the tyranny of mediocracy!

ahem, its worth mentioning how racist this choice of character is as well imo, 'its' been paraded around ... might as well slap a sticker on her "look I'm black, and I'm a woman". It's so clumsy and blatantly racist that even that got me pretty angry. Posted over @ fh.org in the AvP thread there about it:
Thinking about it, not only was this film totally insulting to watch by playing the audience off as idiots, it seemed blatantly racist aswell... did anyone find the choice of character's and who survived similarly insulting or am I reading too much into the writing here?

I've heard the comment, "you can tell when the film was made by the time the black character dies" as a joke, but this movie was so clumsily written it did feel like... well the choice of lead character was really suspect. It totally felt like the character was chosen just because she was a woman, and just because she was black (and hence why it seemed racist), rather than because her character really should have survived for any reason. You can notice this sometimes in movies, how a character seems to have popped in to make it seem like some studio executive has said 'oh I know, lets choose a minority demographic character and we can make this into some statement', or just happened to be the case due to some cheesy notion at the hands of a director.

Maybe it was because this film was so awful that I'm trying to find another reason to find it so terrible in my mind? It wouldn't surprise me :) But I think it was a very 'hollywood' and lame choice of character here, intentional or not. :whip:
