ed2k: Crusade.1x01.350mb.Sample.Spud.avi  [3.93 Mb] [Stats]

in the meantime, get yourself a better browser you erm... swine... :wacky:

BTW episode 2 was on last night, which is now captured awaiting encoding :)

Sample looks nice, but the resolution seems a bit high for the bitrate. Still, as long as it still looks as good on the brighter scenes, who cares ? ;)
I'll be downloading it if you release it :)

Got the sample. Just had to R-click 'save target as'. Worked fine. Remove the sample from Mule if you want, but if you plan on spreading the series, just as good to keep it there.

Looks good. Audio is a bit scratchy, but don't remember if that's on purpose on that ep.

really? Gknot showed compressability of 149837% I think it broke

So 640x480 is too high you say, I thought that as long as the bitrate was high enough ie. > 1000kb/s, the framesize should be bumped up higher., meaning there'll be less pixelation and mess on high motion scenes and the movie looks better when its stretched to fullscreen. Or that's what I was told. You should drop the resolution lower only if the bitrate is much lower.

The bits/pixel is 0.133. I can lower the resolution if you think that's better, I mean I haven't released them, i still have the DV files and I won't be sharing them until after frighteners has spread (be next week probably).

Your call guys (and klemo  )

Uploading another sample of a much brighter seen, scanning through in nandub, I can see some artifacts that aren't in the source avi, I guess your right about the resolution then klemo.

What should I change the resolution to?

You're right about bumping up the res when you have a high bitrate, but remember that a 4:3 rip has FAR more pixels and detail to encode than a 2.35:1 rip, and so the bitrate must be a lot higher to be able to support a horizontal resolution of 640.
Without being able to test the files myself, I can't really say what the best res would be. If you are targetting a 350MB filesize though, I would guess</i> that 576x432 might be a better choice, but that is only a guess.

okay, I'll move it down. As said, the comp test has killed itself, and I normally use that as a guide

I'll re-encode with a low res. Its fine for the most part, but then I was examing frames in nandub and a few of them were covered in pixel gunk :(

Good job i still got the source. That looks quality so I'll keep going till they are perfect. Trying not to spoil them by watching them until I finish B5, but at the same time preview them for quality

BTW, I'm upto 5x05, which are coming ffrom emule due to a lack of DVDs :matrix: I have to say that one of my favourite episodes of B5 has to be 5x04 with the two technicians walking about... just goes to show how crap security is on B5 with all the crew and ambassadors walking around talking in front of everyone

It's always been like that, :wacky: Londo's always pissed in the bar  but security is always floating around somewhere, especially that really good actor who plays Zack Allen :eatthis:

True ONLY if you keep the 640 not 480, but why would anyone try & use a Scope layout for this TV show?

That's not a bad choice. Still alot bigger than 352x240 or 320x240 resolutions and should play easier than the current sample.

I saw a similar R2 one when looking for S5 release date:
Babylon 5 - Movie Collection: Third Space / Call To Arms / River Of Souls

I don't know why there's only 3, I guess its cos The Gathering and In the Begining are already available on DVD?

I did a re-encode test at 576 and to be honest, it looked worse. I'll maybe try a divx and see how that looks :)

aha, forget divx, I got the xvid compressability test working, using that its a recommendation of 544 (and I can get a 0% AR error at that res too :) ).

As said, I'll keep going till it looks right, since I'm spreading an infect file atm :)

problem solved... it turns out that method of deinterlacing wasn't very good in this case :o

Next episode is on to night, its wednesday today right? :wacky:
