Sucker as I am for anything post-apocalyptic, I stayed away from the sequels as well. When one guy writes, directs, stars and fetches the frigging tea as well, you do have to wonder about the quality.

Sorry, you're wrong.

It's neither a helmet nor big hair in the image. Think nerdy!

Nerdy? Napolian Blownapart, I mean Dynamite?

Ditto that one. Last really good one I saw was '28 Days Later'.

Terry Gilliam made a good point about the 'do it all directors', and he should know about what he comments are hinting at, when he said that its the near constant interferance by studio, producers and writers all struggling for input on the project that makes the director's job almost unbareable on the 'big projects', and ultimately, that's why a heck of a lot of director's go for total control, even though in the end it may result in less refined screenplays and lesser quality writing (and ideas).

It was a comment on Brazil. He loved the project (it was his "baby") but because he cared for it so much, that he felt several screenwriters had to be involved (even though he hated anyone his project) to make it as refined as possible. Some director's just can't let that happen to their projects feeling it compromises the vision. Others are just under the false impression that they can actually write jack

They only make cameo appearances. In the Frogtown case Scott Shaw co-directs, co-writes and plays Hell himself. His co-conspirator/co-everything is Donald Jackson who does more or less the same. By the fourth (straight to video) movie Shaw only acts and can't be arsed to do more.

yeah, but shyamalan's last two appearances were REALLY feckin' preachy or, in the last case, pasted into the movie to make it seem at all plausible. don't even remember the first two.

Only in the very first one. They replaced him immediately thereafter.

Update: The last two movies changed Sam Hell to Max Hell, the son or some crap. But Roddy did only appear in the first one. I suspect the change to Max Hell was prompted by the exit of Roddy.

Okay, it's not a post-apocalyptic film as it might appear from the second pic, and it was made in the 70s. Both screenshots are from the beginning of the film.
