I've said it before and I'll say it again, nothing comes remotely close to the xbox. It plays everything, even games :)

It costs a bit more, but its far superior than any player.

If your looking to invest, my advice would be that "little" console :)

well i've got the Yamada dvx 6100 and i'm still in two minds of whether to ditch it and get that ugly Xbox (although i see they do diff colours now) lately the Yamada has been unable to play a LOT of Xvid rips for numerous reasons :(

and if you think the Yamada DVX6600 is fantastic i'd beg to differ, go over to http://www.my-yamada.co.uk and check out the disgruntled ppl there in the forum constantly moaning about it

i think it's just a matter of getting the money up until i get a modded sexbox....cheapest i spotted a nice looking one already chipped online was 200squid :o i not got 200squid just yet....but i am probly gonna sell my Yamada a chipped PS2 (and over 60games) and gamecube to fund my purchase

so who's up for buying all 3 from me?
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

it's a pain in the ass...had my laptop hooked up to the tv with leads flying around everywhere....got to switch on the laptop then change to tv out load up the cd/dvdr then play.

OR

have a nice looking yamada (or ugly sexbox) constantly hooked up to TV with leads all nicely concealed switch on via remote load cd/dvdr play....lot less hassle IMO :D

All my leads are concealed anyway and my vid card is set to dual view. All i have to do is double click the file, switch on the TV and there it is with 5.1 surround sound

So basically what puts you off is already sorted at my end

if you chip it, it will play anything absolutely everything, unlike the other players listed here which will fall down and crash on Xvid with bframes/qpixels and other advanced xvid encoding techniques. People moan about the yamada cos it doesn't work as well as the xbox as a media player :)

It also plays pirate games and has a much higher value.

I don't own one, but would buy one if I were to buy a divx player ;) I use a decent pc

btw. there's a hard drive in the playbox, so you will get one either way ;)

@bladerunner....lucky you ;) i still think the Xbox would be better than TV out

@max.....i'll stick my msn on and chat to ya aboot the ps2 etc :D

@spud i've got a decent pc/laptop but would still prefer a xbox/divxplayer instead of the leads trailing around my living room....as for playing the copy games...not bothered too much as i doubt i'm likely to use it for games :D

The ebay one will be the crappiest of the crappy, that being turn your tv upside down and stick a box with two fractal lenses in to project an image in a pitch black room.
