Probably the best comedy series *ever* And like all sci-fi programs, it nearly didn't make it onto our screens at all

/me hugs his 4 DVDs then runs over to his VHS chest and hugs all the series and then finally the Red Dwarf night tape
Okay series 7 and 8 are far too american for my taste (it was very much one of the writers doing one). But up until then it is outstanding viewing, a brilliant comedy and a great scifi in their own rights.
