currently making my way through PANDORA HEARTS (anime). it's a loose ALICE IN WONDERLAND series (not really an adaptation but more than similar in theme).
saw Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND last week. it's actually a sequel to the "beloved" story (very similar to speilberg's HOOK). I liked it. I have no special love for the original. this was fun. basically, if you like Burton's work (except perhaps for BIG FISH), you'll like this too. that has nothing to do with the source material. it's the mood/tone/atmosphere, direction, etc.
finally, watched SHE'S OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE yesterday, and I liked it. nobody who reads this will like it, however. why? because it's very similar to KNOCKED UP, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, and ZOMBIELAND. I, however, enjoyed them all. as I did WEDDING CRASHERS and probably will THE HANGOVER if I ever get around to watching it.
Life ducks, and you sigh.
