I've never met you in my life, but I am nevertheless CERTAIN that you have different expectations (acceptable levels of suspension of disbelief) for live action and animation - just as you would for STV, TV, and Theatrical Release. I would not, however, expect to change your mind, since I said SKIP IT in the first place. regarding vampires in general, I think you're wrong, but whatever. imo, it has more to do with the genre than the fact of vampires or not. for example, I find vampire action movies entertaining. but the romantic ones are not good. and the horror one could go either way - SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE was excellent although you could argue horror/comedy - but since I don't generally like horror: bad.

ah see i don't generally like horror much anymore, seen it all doesn't offer anything really new, but yeah i guess i do allow a bit more leeway in animation and so on the same i would stv and so on.

I'll be honest i was tempted to say the only decent vampire movie is Dracula: Dead and Loving it starring leslie nielson but i didn't really enjoy that much, it was ok to zone out too but not amazing or anything.

I dno what it is about vampire films, i just sense a massive air of arrogance surrounding them, like they think they are high art or something

watched Transporter 3 last night (r5), i usually like Jason Statham action movies but this one was just shit, the action sequences felt like they had seriously been affected by the credit crunch, and they added in some romance scenes which really didn't suit the character of Frank nor Statham

I don't remember if I've even seen TRANSPORTER 3. which one has the assassin/nurse who wears a lot of skimpy lingerie?

2 is that one, 3 has only just come out on region 5 (cheap russian no extras or audio improvement) dvd so unless you downloaded the R5 dvdrip in the last 3 days you haven't seen it, i don't think it went to cinemas? it didn't here anyway

c'ptain... the retard-o-tron! she cannie take no more!
You might be tempted to say you have taste, but I hope your other senses counteract this urge :p

On a serious note I'm guessing you've seen none. You should try Near Dark, its a more serious take on something people attribute to Fright Night (post modern vampires? ). I also like the Fearless Vampire Killers which is a nice Polanski movie, can't wait for a HD release of that! Lifeforce is about vampirism, as is Rabid. From Dusk Till Dawn is a classic.

There's 5 or 6 others i've not yet watched that are supposed to be good too, but i've not seen em yet so won't mention them.

like i said, tempted, but i didn't because it's not that great, or even that good.

Incidently i've seen quite a lot of vampire films, and i just find the genre boring, fright night 1 and 2, john carpenters vampires, and so on and so forth, the only ones i find mildly enjoyable are the hammer ones.

Is fearless vampire killers that one where some vampires turn up so a guy who played a vampire hunter for years is called in but he's a fake, or something like that? if so i've heard of it but not seen, i think i have near dark somewhere, but i just hate the way vampires, especially these days are all so full of themselves and everything, boring

the whole modern vampire malarky was created by near dark; its pretty much the be all and end all as far as that innovation went and it was ten years before the like of interview with the vampire, shite like Vampires and turd comic book movies like blade.

Personally, I quite like Night Watch and Day Watch too, aka. the russain efforts

ps. barring fright night 1; you just rattled off some of the most tired, cliched and popularist vampire movies which are certainly not ones that would come to mind if you ventured slightly left or right of the cookie-cutter hollywood movie shelf. The list certainly doesn't shout exposure to anything but a handful of clones. If you are watching movies like that then you should expect movies like that, as obvious as it might sound, and that's probably why you are bored of them

eh. I didn't think JC's VAMPIRES was bad. if you didn't like DUSK TILL DAWN, then you definitely wouldn't like VAMPIRES. not sure if that works in the other direction though, cuz the tarantino/rodriguez movie is more visceral (but just as silly).

I don't really care whether vampires are romanticized (anne rice) or feral (30 DAYS), but I do insist that they "stick to the rules" as it were. I hate it when a movie completely retools what a 'vampire' is - like blue violet or something purple or whatever that movie with the RE chick was. you know what? those aren't vampires. don't even get me started on TWILIGHT. but as the TWILIGHT example attests, I'll watch any vampire movie that comes out - though tend to skip the C-movie rack.

apparently - and not without a hint of irony - the live action BLOOD THE LAST VAMPIRE is a go this May. there's a trailer for it on aicn. it's GOTTA be better than the 2000 animation. :wacky:

watched THE INTERNATIONAL (2009) today. lemme summarize: meh.

i forgot about dusk till dawn, ok so there's an exception, i enjoyed that film, though the 2 sequels were a bit pointless.

it's possibly an offline/online indicator for whatever skin/theme your using, on mine under everyones avatar theres a grey rectangle with a orange box at the left side with offline next to it when your offline, and a green box with online if your.. correct, online, possibly a similar thing otherwise i've no idea

 nicknamed himself. :googley:

regarding the online/offline indicator thing, that would make sense, I guess. it's completely different (looking) from the same function in the other theme (where I believe it actually said "online"/"offline"). and I only ever see it for me. but that fits since we rarely post at exactly the same time. weird.

I feel like...:epic:

yes Don Wilson nicknamed himself "The Dragon" you just know his given nickname at school was something like genital wart, so when he went into martial arts and the others asked what his nickname was he said "oh erm it's...... the dragon"
