The 2nd one is the only one that dose not have the tiling lines.. so I am picking that one... though I think i prefer the more pulled back nebualr of the 1st one.... if that didn't have that wierd black box in the middle I would pick it...

Also I like the origianl "aliens" glow you had on the text.. mabey put that back?

If spud can fix the overall header so the forum sclaes to window then everythign will be gravy!!!

what resolution are you looking at this thing with? I like the clarity of the first one. but looking at it in native resolution, I don't see anything.

I can see what Jynks is describing. On the first image the a big black block in the middle, on the others there's some 'seaming' or whatever its called when you reapply the same texture more than once.

I think its probably your brightness settings for your monitor more than anything (assuming you aren't using a CRT). I'm working on a little cross-site redesign; I've never really been a front end designer so its about time something was applied.

I'm working on the following as design principles:

• Promotion of content and tighter navigation links
• Better visibility / slightly brighter design
• A bit of AJAX to make use of space
• Retention of existing theme

General features I want to push out:

• VIP / Private forums
• Collections portal to offload traffic from the very inefficient phpbb method

And in the last images I posted I can't see the tiling Jynks is mentioning. I;; turn up the brightness on mu crt when I get back at night. Should have a 22inch crt standing here then

heh. wait. I do see it. here's the really embarrassing part: that's what I liked about the pic so much. well...not the fact that it's a rectangular block, but because the text is so clear that it gives the impression of "crispness" to the whole thing. but now that I see it. I can't not see it. just add some stars to it.

I put a new banner at the top for the meantime, since i love that screenshot. Its from fable 2. Not played the game but it looks fantastic!

Three slight variations on the first of the bunch I posted at the bottom of the previous page:







All ~750px width, no tiling lines (AFAICS), with (second and third) and without the kinda alien look glow and the bottom one is almost the same only it got a bit more nebula on the bottom.

the first one is best because the nebula interferes with the lettering of the third and the font looks better than the second, however, the Y in the title is obscured too much. I'd say go with the first one but reduce the spacing between characters so that the title remains centered but don't overlay the light-colored graphic(s) on the right. There's a bit too much space between the letters anyway.

edit: or you could see what an outline would do to it. maybe black?

I like the last 2, but I don't like the font (the A looks kinda silly). Larger rather than smaller font is my preference. I'm not sure what I think about the outline though. It's not necessary in any of the images because the smaller fonts don't overlay light background images anymore. An outter glow might look more spacey. and a drop shadow (from the left) might give it that ALIEN feel.

And on the first the deaddonkey is to close at each other, already tried a larger/more outerglow but then it tends to blur the overal total look. Don't like the stroke aswell but I thougth i'd add what was mentioned
IMO this one:

with a more appropriate spcaing/tracking for the top font would be a good shit eh shot

is there any chance of reinserting the space background instead of the black on the stylesheet? (nothing to do with logo )
