yeah lang was really holding the show back, she should've been killed off a lot sooner, yeah i agree about the coming out of the shadows bit too, it's made the show more fun and more like what we actually know and like about superman.

I liked the "no flights, no tights" rule 8 years ago. now, I think it's the only remotely interesting thing on the show. no problems turning him into superman for real now imo. and agreed, this season is a major improvement on all fronts. even erica durance seems to be better.

yeah i'd almost do her now

i thought it was really cheesey tho with olly playing clark in the last ep

anyway watched Dead Space: Downfall today, the movie is the prequel so to speak of the new game Dead Space, it gives the backstory to the game, how ti all happened etc, was pretty good actually, i liked that the animation was what i call "proper" animation, not all this shit weird angle jagged lines and flash animation of recent years, though i couldn't shake the fact the lead female looked and sounded like the singer "Pink" who incidently always reminds me of the comic book villian/heroine Bomb Queen (check those comics out, great stuff)

Yea, i also really liked teh way teh show was done in the early days, but i think that the main point of the show is that he "grows" into superman and the paths that get him there. So at some point they HAVE to start doing some more full on stuff. It is the most "superman" momnets that everyone remebers the best, like going into space on the back of a nuckular rocket, or vaporising an entire river flowing form a busted dam infront of a kid and nodding to him before sipping off.

Talking about superman, the final word has come down the grape vien that the new superman reboot is definatly on the cards. The force of The Dark Knight has finaly got hollywood to remeber they are making a movie from the comic NOT from the early 80s film. The "darker" super man launched in teh 1 year lone story "For Tomorrow" (superman v2 (#204-#215).

About time. we want teh superman form 'Infinate Earth Crisis" who puches things so hard he bends the fabric of reality and causes the multiverse to collapse into a single "chaos earth"

We want teh superman that is portrated as a all powerful god figure, as feared as he is loved. A force beyond good or evil answering only to himself, and his own moral codes.

What we do not want is the old "american do-gooder" style made famous in the early comics and personified in may eyes in teh reeves films.

X Files - I want to Belive

Saw the new X-Files movie. It really wasn't as terrible as i thought it would be. Not great, far to much history with teh old tv show behind it. I think it would have been better if it was the same story but had nothign to do with the x-files. Still not to shabby. Kinda wish i saw it at teh cinima now.

Chronicals of Nania - Prince Caspian

This was suprisingly good. I really hated the original flick and even though I loved the original books as a kid. Still in this show they have gone with a much darker angle than the last one. This is still aa Disney and has for adolesents as the main stars, so do not expect anything to dark.

on the subject of a darker superman film, Brandon Routh has gone on record as saying he doesn't think Superman should be made darker, but the way i see it is this.... OI ROUTH, YOUR MOVIE WAS SHIT BEYOND BELIEF, SO BAD IT MADE SUPERMAN 4: THE QUEST FOR PEACE LOOK GOOD, THE SOONER YOUR OUT THE ROLE OF SUPERMAN THE BETTER, SO FUCK OFF YOU SNIVELLING BLUMPKIN COCKFAG" - end rant

Jynks i also own (and have read) the crisis on infinite earths comics, though i own it in the anniversary edition collection along with the sequel infinite crisis, i really didn't like infinite crisis it was pretty shit, but crisis on infinite earths was helluva cool

I seriously doubt you'll ever get a superman onscreen who does that, jynks, and honestly, the vaporizing thing is something I never gave a second thought to while the rocket ride is so memorable simply because it was part of the opening titles. :2cents:

for a fairly dark kids flick in the past couple years, I'd suggest THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES. it's not great cinema, but it doesn't pander to children in the worst and typical way of removing all seriousness or threat from the narrative and replace it with nonsensical oral diarrhea.

QUANTUM OF SOLACE (2008). I hated the titles. I thought we were done with that crap. I was annoyed going into it that it was PG-13 (so was CASINO ROYALE so iunno what my deal is). I enjoyed the action. I enjoyed the movie. Other than about the last 10-15 minutes, everything makes sense and stays on track. iunno why they just tossed the story out the window when they did. I had the impression that it was a run time thing (hence my annoyance with the PG-13, I think). and that makes it worse, cuz the whole quantum coalition thing was interesting, and the revenge thing was interesting. so I'm annoyed that with about 15-25 minutes more run time and a remotely competent script, the intellectual aspect(s) of the movie could've been as or more compelling than the action. and, of course, I wanted the R-rating for more visceral images (rather appropriate in a world where torture is as common as double-agents). still, it's not devoid of intellect, and I was into the movie more or less until it just ended. so it's a decent effort.

ps - not sure I'd want to see this for the first time (or ever) on a small screen, but there's also nothing awe-inspiring that demands a big screen viewing.
