yeah. I thought as much. but I think if you go back and look at stiller just as an actor (not the movie as a whole), you might agree with me here. he can be a good everyman. and in the beginning of TROPIC THUNDER, he's this aging action star (stallone, arnnie) who's searching for something..."more." he's still shallow "ZOOLANDER" movie guy, but he's not "ZOOLANDER" fuckjob, lip curling, retard voice guy. instead, it's the other people who go off and act eccentrically, and he furrows a brow (jack black, steve coogan, rdj). but then they go off into the jungle and he goes off into his "full tard / retarded jack" routine.

yeah. I understand what you're saying. I disagree except for two scenes, where the movie requires him to speak WAY too much.

and yes, funny vid. a friend of mine was just describing it to me last night. karma!

just watched the pilot ep of TRU BLOOD and the season premiere of ENTOURAGE. I was disappointed by both. the eps were fine, and ENTOURAGE had some great moments, but both eps ended rather abruptly, and I thought that was kind of rotten for a season premiere and especially bad idea for a show's pilot ep.

BURN AFTER READING.
it's been a long while since - no...wait...scrap that. I can recall quite a few coen brothers movies that were completely blah. sure, FARGO was good and LEBOWSKI was comedy gold, but honestly, O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU? INTOLERABLE CRUELTY? still haven't seen LADY KILLERS. And this is prolly blasphemy, but I really didn't care for RAISING ARIZONA. So I guess to say I thought BURN AFTER READING was totally and completely blah isn't really saying much, is it? The most entertaining performance is brad pitt, but he's miles away from the johns goodman or tuturo. malkavich is fine, but unspectacular. j. k. simmons is entertaining but barely there. clooney is overused or just wrong for the part. I can't decide which. the whole story is crazy but neither engaging or very funny. I'd skip it.

Yea that is blasphemy. Agree on all other counts though... but i did like Brother Where Art Thou.

Wall-E

Awesome. This movie is really good if yo uare after a light hearted little flick. It is funny, cute a good one for the kids. Yet it has some pretty heavy subtext for the grown ups. One of Pixars best ever... I strongly recommend it.

yikes! I liked WALL-E, but the TOY STORIES, SHREK, and INCREDIBLES, just to name a few of the top of my head, are far more sophisticated. WALL-E was more like kidifying a contemporary political issue. but story-wise, it's definitely dumbing down rather than raising up the intellectual component. at times, there were some really great visuals though - especially for sci-fi fans. felt like a kid in a candy shop, the homages were strung one after another.

watched a lot of tv lately: GOSSIP GIRL, ENTOURAGE, TERMINATOR: SARAH CONNOR, HEROES

Oh yea.. INcredibales was good.. shrek was so bad it made me sick.. and it was not pixar anyways.

Watched the 2 new eps of smallville. Looks like Lex is off teh show.. he is not in the opening credits anymore. I hear rumor that thesmallville guy may end up as the new superman for the superman reboot. They are pretending that superman returns nvr happend and rebooting the franchise... kinda like batman begins. Witch is a cool idea imo.. though I am not looking forward to another dose of the kent farm.

oh? it's definitely the last year? interesting.

It looks like The Sarah Connor Chronicles will not be picked-up after the original 13 for s2. poor ratings. and FOX is notoriously quick to pull the trigger on new sci-fi (which is weird considering how comparatively much sci-fi they produce). This info is coming from this Week's EW - Aisello report, I think.
