bret ratner. and the funny part of that is you said he wants to "direct," which would be a first. :wacky:

he's the guy who killed the X-MEN franchise, btw.

MY SASSY GIRL.
Jesse Bradford and Elisha Cuthbert. Cuthbert is hot hot hot. But this movie is not not not. I wonder if the director and/or screenplay adaptation writer isn't a 15 year old girl?

honestly, it was movie of the year compared to this fucking turd of a movie I just got back from AT THE THEATER!

say what I will about TRANSFORMERS, I don't have to wonder where the money went. but this movie...this was easily worse than the stv AMERICAN PIE movies. it's called COLLEGE. and avoid it like the plague. it wouldn't even pass muster on cable tv. we're talking SAVED BY THE BELL script level here. ouch! plenty of tits and stale jokes about AUSTIN POWERS that weren't even funny 5 years ago.

austin powers wasn't funny in the first place, why would a joke about austin powers be better? These people need their heads drilling.

the only reasonably funy part of austin powers was "ow.. that really hurt, i mean who throws a shoe?" and that is really stretching the meaning of funny to its utmost limit

meh. I liked scott evil and mini me in the first two.

TRAITOR.
billed as "the BOURNE ULTIMATUM of this year." well...uh...no. there's also no mystery whatsoever in the movie. I mean - there's no way to sugar coat this - if you don't know who's on what side 20 minutes into the movie, then you're a fucking retard. ok. that's harsh. but you get the idea. so that was kinda funny. it's a decent movie.

there's absolutely nothing in theaters (that I haven't already seen!). the last two weeks have been crappy. I wanna see HAMLET 2, but that's not showing here (yet?), and there's something else about a guy who's a dick from one of the indie festivals that looked good.

HAMLET 2
there's a plot device. ;)

no. not really a sequel to HAMLET. although your reaction is supposed to be part of the conceit of the movie.

HOW TO LOSE FRIENDS AND ALIENATE PEOPLE could be good also. seems like very slim pickings indeed - and the writers' strike effect hasn't even hit yet. :?

DEATH RACE
it was better than the last few movies I've seen. I know. I know. that's like pooping on poop. but it was...ok. jason statham. action. even the esteemed director of RE and AVP couldn't botch that, right? erm...I mean...well...right? mmm...right?

actually, it was ok. don't get me wrong, it's a crap movie. but it's the same crap movie that anyone would make given the ludicrous setup. and tbh, I'm not sure RUNNING MAN was much better. that's not a compliment...to either movie. of course, there's absolutely no POINT in watching this movie cuz you've literally seen every important scene on the previews. not sure who's fault that was. but...well...meh. it was free. I don't lament the 2hrs of my life that I'd have spent not doing work at my computer (as I'm not doing now!). so I'll be generous and say the movie was formulaic, forgettable, but wholly inoffensive as most of his stuff manages to be...at least on this board.

but is was no great work of art like..... crank......

actually funny story about death race remake, i know a woman whose a HUGE fan of statham (so much so she married her husband because he looks like statham!) anyway she went to see mamma mia (as women and dinky do) in a group of 20+ women, and on the way out grabbed one of those huge cut out/standee things of statham from death race and hid it in the group bobbing it about in the middle as if it were a person, then had to face the questions and disapproving looks from her daughter for stealing hahaha

I went and saw TROPIC OF THUNDER. It is the first time i have been to the theater to see a comedy for years and years. Mabey it was the audience "they laugh, you laugh" thing but i had a ball and laughed my heart out. This movie was fuckn great

The film is not full of joke / punchlines (though there is some) it is just that the charicters themselves act very funny. Like say the gym owner from dodgeball.

I noramly hate ben stiuller (apart from dodgeball) and i strognly recommend this.. Iron Man actor guy is freakn the star of teh show and alll.

I strongly recommend this,

the only movie i can think of with ben stiller in that i actually enjoyed was the 80s john cusack movie "hot pursuit", but that's possibly coz john cusack is one of my favourite actors.

But i digress, oh yeah i kind of liked that night museum thing, well it wasn't shit anyway, but then i remember starsky and hutch and hope he dies in a car accident (now of course i don't otherwise i will be suspect #1 )

I also really hope the rumours regarding him and ghostbusters 3 (due out around the same time frame as duke nukem forever) are false

robert downey jr.'s having quite a year. I caught part of BACK TO SCHOOL on HBO the other night, and he had a supporting role in that. quirky role as per usual.

I like stiller in his MEET THE PARENTS persona. i.e., when he's more or less the straight man or the normal guy who gets caught in a wacky situation. I can't stand his ZOOLANDER routine. he uses both in TROPIC THUNDER. incidentially, the ZOOLANDER routine is also the DODGEBALL routine, but I did enjoy DODGEBALL...inspite of, not because of, his scenes.

only problem with jr.'s performance is it was the feature of almost every preview so there was nothing new in the movie. I'd split the prize between him and all the cameos (especially heir scientology).
