NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN. it was better than the first one (as the trailer says, it's more savage than when we last saw it). but it's nothing to shake a stick at. there are some nice comic moments and some decent action. still a kids' flick.

I was only reminded of the judeo-christian stuff during this one scene by the river that might as easily been ripping off tolkien (not sure which came first).

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS. boring. formulaic. knew what I was getting into. I wanted to check out the new theater that just opened, and it's awesome. parking is a bitch though.

I can't believe you wasted your time on that one... this is a sign of crazy "must see everything" syndrome :P

I wouldn't call it wasting my time; it was boring in the sense that it wasn't riveting cinema. I don't actually dislike the genre out of hand - although ryan reynolds is much better at this stuff than kutcher. I was in the mall and felt like a movie. I was in the mood for something light that I hadn't seen. it was still matinée price, and I wanted to explore the new theaters some more.

I quite liked the latest battlestar in so far that i was pissed it seemed so short, still waiting for something to actually happen

Simpsons was utter shite, as usual.

Lost revealed the six just after leaving the island so the flash forwards have got a lot closer to what ever happened 'in the end'. Ben and Desmond are the two characters worthy of more time, as has been the case all season.

I enjoyed the recent BSG ep also.

watched most of SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRELS. don't bother. it's ANGER MANAGEMENT with slightly less funny leads.

also watched CLERKS 2. slightly better than I remember it. the bad stuff is still bad stuff (anything approaching pathos in a kevin smith movie), but the series of side bars, arguments, and whatnot were all still entertaining. either that, or I really like randal's riff about the 25 endings in RotK.

i saw school for scoundrels a while ago, i also thought it was mostly shit, one or 2 moments of okness i guess

i also agree ryan reynolds is better at what he does then kutcher, have you seen the movie "Buying The Cow"?, i would recommend it if you want something to generally pass the time when you just wanna relax and unwind without using much thought process.

Anyway watched smallville finale, i had the kara personality guessed long before they actually revealed it, thought it wasn't difficult to figure out.

Generally the episode was shit, especially the end, when it ended i just thought "oh i wonder what bullshit the writers will come up with to get round this"

glad lana seems to have fucked off finally though

lol you were cheering for that since s1.

lex isn't signed for next season. I think kara is. that's all I remember: the ending of the ep (next season!) leaves it so lex could be gone (from the show) or not. I haven't hunted down any rumors. that's prolly from aicn or EW.

hey, how come braniac is sitting there absorbing power from a transformer farm, but when clark sticks him with two hot lines, he fries-up and dies? wtf? hasn't he come back from FAR worse?

i was indeed, and my persistance paid off

yeah i heard lex hadnt signed for the next (i also heard its the last) season

i wondered that aswell about brainiac, the only conclusion i can figure is it gives him an overload which fries his circuits or something, which is a bit lame of a death really, although a computer virus would've been lamer i guess

also concidering when chloe ended up in the hospital from brainiac and the look of anger clark was meant to be showing, he really didnt seem to have to do much to kill brainiac, i know he's superman and all but in every other supes vs brainiac its taken him ages to kill him in the final fight.

The lois bit at the end when lana fucks her ugly face off out of clarks life was just way out of character, i think they were trying to show lois had real feelings for clark hidden under her brash army brat exterior, but frankly shes such a bad actress she really didnt manage to pull it off convincingly at all

I'm just waiting to see braniac come back with his skull shaped ship like in the 70s and 80s cartoons of superfriends :wacky:

Anyway just watched Balls of Fury, quite enjoyed it, just the right amount of silly in it, and christopher walken was on excellent form camping it up as a liberace-esque evil ping pong crime lord, but then i usually enjoy walken in the roles he plays, good actor

I take it that doesn't include WEDDING CRASHERS. :wacky:

I just got back from FORBIDDEN KINGDOM after a review from fh. it was fun. anyway, that's why this "report" hit that board rather than this:

Wolfman wrote:The Forbidden Kingdom
- Jet Li smiles, he actually even laughs,
- high production values for a Hongkong movie

this was a hong kong movie? it sure felt hollywood. I mean, no subs was my big clue. anyway, it was enjoyable. glad I saw it. I don't generally like all the outlandish wire stuff. movie itself is pretty similar to the sean william scott/chow yun fat movie from a few years ago, BULLETPROOF MONK? similar in broad strokes plot-wise and in tone/balance. this one was more enjoyable and could have gone for the true epic scale, but I'm glad they didn't, cuz that tact always seem to fail miserably imo (I was not a CROUCHING TIGER fan). iunno. I like BM (heh) and I liked this and I liked IRON MONKEY. I thought HERO was way overcooked, and CROUCHING TIGER was ok at times and extremely annoying at others. I mention all this just to give people a barometer for whether they can take my opinion of this movie for themselves or not.

oh, and I can vouch for the jet li smiling and laughing in a movie too.

frankly i thought wedding crashers was so shit that i don't even remember ryan reynolds being in it!

i have to say i didn't think much to crouching tiger either, thought it was lame and boring, did enjoy the one though where jet li from an alt dimension kills all the other jet lis and becomes almost super human from it and then our earth jet li lays the smack down on him, not seen bulletproof monk for the simple fact seann william scotts in it

Christopher Walken, you tit.

I think the jet li movie you're referring to is THE ONE. I like him, prolly more than I should given how much I actually like his movies. but I enjoyed the luc besson one: KISS OF THE DRAGON. I thought UNLEASHED was ridiculously bad though.

anyway, watched KISS KISS, BANG BANG last night on HD-DVD. that fecking movie rocks! I'd already seen it once, but I'd forgotten how damn funny it was. fecking brilliant. it's like the SHAUN OF THE DEAD of buddy cop movies.

i know that's why i said "did enjoy the one though", by that i meant the movie the one, not meaning i couldnt remember the name :wacky:

i don't remember walken being in wedding crashers either, but then i didn't like it so lol

watched diary of the dead... freakin sweet movie, loved it, not so much at the beginning but soon got into it, especially when the prof (best character in it) went all green arrow on the chicks kid bro haha, infact at that point i said to a mate on msn SHIT MAN SHIT HE WENT ALL GREEN ARROW ON THE KID (i need to cut down on the comics)

frankly i think the main guy deserved everthing he got for being a general cunt

also watched gens rip of the time guardian... gen... dude..... did u shit on the dvd first or something? ok movie to watch before bed as it didnt require much brain juice, the main guy was proper cheesey trying to sound all hard and stuff, carrie fisher and dean stockwell the biggest named actors in it were... well.... barely in it.

DAZED AND CONFUSED (HD-DVD). didn't realize jeremy london was the main lead in that. enjoyed. good movie. other than all the smoking, I'm not entirely sure how much that was a 70s nostalgia movie. that or the 90s was the 70s all over again. :wacky:

although historical accuracy is way down on my list for such a movie (as if I have any historical knowledge to judge anyway!)

i remember seeing dazed and confused years back when i was at college, was it the one with milla jovovich who really had no point even being there for the 2 words she spoke, and ben affleck as the football jock?

no idea who jeremy london is

i'm suprised it even got to hd-dvd

or is this the movie where those 2 stoners spend the entire night in a beat up car looking for a party while listening constantly to don't fear the reaper by blue oyster cult? and one of the main characters always keeps seeing this giant eye with lasers or something, i always get those 2 films mixed up

it's the one with milla jovovich and ben affleck. jeremy london was the quarterback who didn't want to sign the behavior contract. he was T. S. in MALLRATS, and I think he was jennifer love hewitt's love interest in PARTY OF FIVE, but I didn't actually watch that show to grain of salt it. anyway, it didn't have "don't fear the reaper" in it, but I laughed when I read it cuz it might as well have: summer breeze, school's out for summer, and a bunch of other songs from the 70s that were popular in the 90s b/c other artists covered them.

finally saw EASTERN PROMISES. it was good, I guess. disappointing really. I had hoped for more intrigue, but it was very straightforward. the only difference was the kinda russian, kinda transylvanian, kinda french accents everyone was speaking in the middle of london. :?

it's called Cockney

anyway watched latest ep (and season finale of) Big Bang Theory, i'd guess dinky maybe watches it too?, it was ok, ruthrapolli doesn't do much like he has the last few eps but it was still good, especially sheldons bad mandarin "your monkey sleeps inside me"

the movie i was thinking of with don't fear the reaper constantly playing through it was The Stoned Age (1994) (released the year after dazed and confused)
