It is defiantly more than that. There is a strong theme humanistic values vers rational thought. The jok angle of the fbi guys is not played much at all.. they focus more on how sensitive he is and aware of human emotion and motives.

did you just describe the x-files? :o

:P

latest GOSSIP GIRL was lame and very 90210. it may cure me of my addiction if the next couple eps are similarly lame.

latest BSG ep. they're planting an awful lot of seeds for a show about to end (10 eps left?). I wasn't much interested. the stuff with the cylon civil war last ep was much more interesting. also, I think we can answer spud's question at this point: the heavy action sequences in the first ep were the exception rather than the rule. no surprises, really. wtf: half the humans are cylons. apollo is a goddamn lawyer. someone nuke the whole fleet and end its misery.

been playing gta 4 all day... well since 3 this afternoon when the post decided to turn up

took a lot longer to get into then the other games did, the camera controls are absolutely shit, and the cars handle like they are made to randomise sensitivity sometimes they turn, other times they plough headlong into a wall. Oh and the font is really small and mostly illegible

oh and the radio stations are even worse then in gta 3

onto the good things, mostly small things that just add to the atmos

when you hit someone with your car the blood smears to your car until you either blow your car up or go through a car wash.

People actually go about their business in an everyday way, like for instance the guy who was unpacking suitcases from his car seconds before i turned him into an invertebrate by slamming my car into him and thusly slamming him into his own boot haha

it's still fun to be stood at the railway station with someone infront of you, only for you to wait til the trains almost there to punch them in the back of the head so they fall infront of the train and go splat

if your going fast enough and hit something head on you will actually fly through your windscreen due to not wearing a seatbelt

to avoid the cops being alerted to you, you actually have the option to pay a toll once you cross the bridge, rather then the cops just not doing anything if they're not there.

you can use trains and taxis to get from one place to another as a passenger or driver

Missions are finally more realtime, if you choose one mission then another mission might be missed and you get choices to make, you can either throw someone off a roof or help them back up to change how the story goes and so on

side missions are no longer in the game (paramedic/fire/vigilante etc) and drive bys have been removed, though you can now shoot infront when in a car

you get a proper mobile phone type thing in game where you can send messages to other players (gta is now multiplayer) and also ring contacts to get more missions and so on or get others to help you with your current mission

X-Filles are completely different themes. Mainly the search for religious meaning while staying rational (skully) and the links between obsession and the distortion of the world around you leading to delusions.

Finished season 1 of Bones... not sure i will bother with season 2.. i am mildly interested where the interpersonal relationships go but meh.. w/e

Finally got around to catching up on season 4 of Battlestar... man that show has fallen off the rails. Used to be the best show on TV and now it is just a load of pious religious crap... Strange thing is Balter is still one of the most interesting charicters i have seen in ages on tv or film.

Prob will not be watching much for a bit as I now start the Age of Conan Beta.. should be really fun!!!

there's always been a delicate balance to maintain with the religious stuff, but I agree that it's way way way too much force-fed and pompous religious stuff nowadays. Yet still Baltar is a delicious personality. It's fun to see him struggle with and against himself and "temptation." he's really a great character. brilliant. full of himself. lecherous. jealous. repentant. weak-willed. great stuff. the full breadth of humanity distilled in and refracted through a particularly unflattering but not unlikeable image. love it!

i just watched latest eps of stuff, reaper, american dad, family guy (they're really upping the whole stewies gay thing), simpsons (not really sure why i still download and watch this.... don't archive it anymore though).

Got national treasure: book fo secrets to watch later.

The first was a bit of a guilty pleasure, although i watched it directly after sahara which was similar theme but fucking dire, so i may have been given better memories of NT as it wasnt as shit as the other, though nic cages wig is really obvious, especially due to the fact he's going bald in a big way irl

I thought NT was a little funnier, but it was painful to watch because Nic Cage and his character were so goddamn stupid and unfunny. I actually thought Sahara would have been fun except I can't stand penelope cruz, and I keep waiting for a gust of wind (like from all those windmills!) to blow her off the continent (hopefully to Antarctica).

see i can't stand penelope cruz, matthew mcmcmcmcmcmcmcconnaloogie, or billy zane, so overall it was really not gonna appeal

Anyway it's funny to laugh at nic cage's ever variable ways to hide the fact he's balding. and his silly accent that sounds like he's swallowed something thats stuck in his throat

prolly right in time to get crushed by IRON MAN 2/AVENGERS.

IRON MAN was great. It's the same movie it looks like based on the trailers, though. so if you watch it after watching the trailers, I think you forfeit any right to bitch about the movie. ok. that's not fair of me to say. but it is what it is, and it's good. it's the tony stark/iron man that I grew up with, and that includes a lighter tone than x-men and more mature audience than spidey (spidey's a clown in many incarnations, but he's a lovable clown who doles out quips while foiling robberies; tony stark is an unapologetic womanizing narcissistic - the spidey movies themselves were darker). it's not a perfect movie by any stretch. I disagree with the final cut, which chose to fuck with the timeline in order to placate idiots who can't watch a movie without explosions in the first 5 minutes. you could see where they had to have cut scenes designed to build tension in the creation of the suit, and the revelation of the villain(s). So I would prefer a longer cut, but this one's good. it's loud. it's ostentatious. it's the iron man I know.

also, if you see this movie, stick around for a teaser clip after the credits. I'm sure you can google it too. and if you read the cast list rumors and whatnot, then it's not exactly a surprise. but there you have it.

I also saw HAROLD AND KUMAR 2 today. it was less than the first but a respectable follow-up. I laughed. it's completely disposable. so was the first. doogie howser give another great cameo appearance.

it's kinda funny that both movies I saw dealt with the issue of terrorism in more or less comic but definitely not simplistic ways. tis the world we live in now, I guess.

ok so now i have watched it, and i see what you mean about it being plot heavy, no real action to speak of, but concidering it was actually directed by Tom Welling i didn't think it was that bad (i realise the story has nothing to do with his hand).

Speaking of hands i was expecting president Lex to remove the glove (was he going for some michael jackson one gloved hand style?) to reveal he had at some point in that alt universe to have lost that hand and brainiac had replaced it for him from part of his own construct. But no we didn't see that part.

Also the whole glasses on clark bit was just another silly nod, as was clark kent mild mannered reporter.

But with the face alt lois made when clark caught her during their first meeting in the daily planet i think it's confirmed my belief that.... Erica Durance loves it up the bum :googley:

That chick that plays lois is so ugly!!! She would have to like it that way as only guys that are secretly gay and into men would have her. All crappy age lines all over her face from years of hanging about in the sun combined with her plastic surgery, and fake tits, and maul nourished... man she is just so gross I feel sick when ever she is around. Yuko... she is one of the examples of some of the social problems that face women.

SMALLVILLE i kinda gave up on in season 6... I just leeched the last few eps of season 7 a week or so ago and nothign has changed... Man.. just give it up and bring on the super stuff... I got so tired of watching a full ep for a cool as 3 minit sequence.... Just get to the powerful stuff.

Still when lex killed his dad I was like YES!!! about time... this should have happened at the end of season 1!! So at least Lex is starting to act evil / insane.

On a side note i made this for a mate b4 season 7 started. but nvr finished it... it is a smallville joke thing... i was goign to call it

"Smallvile: -What will be forgotten in Season 7"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTkCymbQg-o

It was nvr finished so not cut is a cool way and no titles or anything

that's a first. youtube isn't responding, but I am interested to see what you did. ;)

I wouldn't complain if the ep were all action, but I don't see how you have clark travel 1) back in time, and 2) to krypton, then have him battle brainiac, find kara, etc. in the span of 5 minutes. actually, I do see how they did it, he just appears there and then appears back on earth. :? an event like that calls for a lot more than a 5 minute wrap scene. I was wondering for a bit if the alternate world was going to be the world we know cuz all or most of the relationships between clark and everyone else were more or less proper in respect to the usual mythology.

youtube is back up.... like i said it was nvr finished... some of the cuts need to be removed... and then it was ment to be re-ordered to make it smoother and more punchy + have some titles to hammer home the joke. Also i think i only got up to 1/2 way though season 5... so there are TONS of other snips to put in still.

you get the idea though

Didn't think much to the latest Battlestar, it seems to be dragging its feet.
Similarly, latest Lost wasn't very good.

No south park, which is a shame.

Shittest thing I saw all week was The Simpsons; glad i'm pirating that show because its really shit... i don't even know why i bother watching it, its on this delusional belief they are still capable of putting out good episodes.

@ spud haha i think you just echoed my sentiments regarding simpsons from earlier in the week

south park is over til oct 1st, now they seem to split their season into 11 episodes per half season but have a 5/6 month gap between, frankly though i haven't thought much to the recent episodes in the new series, the no internet one had its moments as did the one where cartman becomes a supply teacher, but most were pretty lame, especially the britney one was just shit, and the aids one wasnt that funny.

Didn't know you even watched lost, i thought it was one of those shows you don't watch on principal?, i haven't got past episode 3 or 4 of lost season 4 simply because its really started getting shitty, now with the flash forwards showing that some of them do get off hte island, i really don't care what happens inbetween.
When it first started i hated it because it was popular, i admit it, then i started watching some and thought it wasnt bad so watched it, and really wanted to know what the black stuff was, what the island was about etc. But now it really doesn't hold much in the way of any appeal at all.

South Park wise; the latest series is better than / as good as its ever been

@lost, nope, even if i hated a show i'd still watch it first else I wouldn't have been able to deduce that I hated it.

Lost is a bit crappy and drags its feet way too much, but its okay, only ever had one episode that I consider to be a full episode.
