MyK wrote:Huh that reads like you watched some completely different movie that I have. Sorry to hear you didn't like it, though. Could it be they somewhat re-edited it for US market? I guess it would make sense as there are quite a lot of scenes that I'd say a typical American would find either too disturbing or too confusing because of cultural/historical references. I don't know though if anything was changed at all, might be some other reason :?

did the movie you watch jump back and forth in time (occasionally) and repeat scenes from different points of view as if they were unveiling some great big secret? did the scene transitions sometimes have titles (e.g., "london") and sometimes not even though the locale had changed drastically? anyway, I was massively disappointed. and it's not that I was looking for some kind of hollywood ending or something. been bashing the shit outta I AM LEGEND for tweaking the movie to that end.

anyway, watching COMING TO AMERICA atm. lots of famous actors in it. cameo by samuel l. jackson included.

There weren't any titles, not that I can remember anyway. It's not like ppl here need titles 2 know what's London and what's northern France. I also watched it without any subtitles for the French spoken parts as it was a "pre-screening" here at that time. Didn't bother me tho; the French, what's it spoken, was easy enough to understand entirely. There were some rollbacks tho but I found that interesting and well made... nice suitable score too, prolly even better met if you read the book first. I think we're talking about two different edits altogether. The movie I watched was a masterpiece IMHO. For the genre that is... and the story - where it starts, where it's going, and where it ends - I'll most def get me that book ASAP ;)

SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES pilot. ep2 airs tonight. I'm hoping it succeeds. there are some quality actors in it, and the terminator guy looked damn good for network tv. I don't like summer glau at all though. she's way too human for this series. also, I understand the need and desire to reference (mainly) T2, but every scene was littered with these little hint hint, wink wink reinterpretations or references just for the sake of having them. like you fully expect and (I think) want the terminator to drive over the other terminator then open the door and say "come with me if you want to live." but do they have to do the fecking swing set? and, of course, they run to the widow of the dyson guy. of course! dyson! but they had no reason at all to be there. "is there anything left from dyson's work?" "no." "ok. bye." wtf? meanwhile, the terminator knows exactly where to go (2007) the whole time. wtf? they're just throwing shit in from the movies to parlay some favor of association thing, and it gets a little annoying/distracting. I also dislike the name of the series (why sarah connor? there are three of them. it's clearly focused on at least two of them.) anyway, I understand the problem with just calling it terminator. just saying I never liked "sarah connor chronicles." it's offputting. as long as it doesn't try to get too philosophical, I think the series will be good. they've done a good job, ironoically, on the aspects of the series that haven't anything to do with the previous movies: namely the fbi agent and the former lover. both actors have a solid screen presence and weaving them into the story will give the series someplace to go that can involve terminators without having to piggy-back the movies with those constant references (spoken, visual, whatever) to the movies. and the less time spent philosophizing about how/why, the better, because we all know that the timeline mechanics are a complete mess, even by hollywood standards, after t2 (which is, imo, why cameron was done with it at that point).

ep2 of SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. uneven (like the first) but still shows promise. I continue to despise the tie-ins with characters from T2 and any second they start philosophizing with voice over. also, I think it's gay that the terminator that got nuked in ep1 survived being blown to shit AND managed to entirely leap through (wasn't it blown out of the vault?). interesting setup with the freedom fighters and such though.

got ep 2 to watch later today, was ep 1 radically different from the pre-air episode that was doing the rounds a while ago?

watched Jericho 2x01 dvdscr last night, it was good, but somehow felt like it had been filmed on much cheaper cameras/film, and had an air of mtv video zooming in on faces all the time

LOL ya me too... watched loads of crap with one eye open snoozing in and out, mostly HR versions of what I watched before anyway. Nothing much to report except that I also watched "That Mitchell and Webb Look" which was great fun. Also used some of the sound from it for a background to the live coverage of snooker masters... "oh, and that's another big miss"

where's britton?

I finally got around to seeing SHOOT'EM UP. I enjoyed Paul Giomati (but he coulda been better). I see no appeal to monica bellucci. I liked Clive Owen (but I've already seen SIN CITY). The action scenes weren't very good. I liked the carrot gags. I liked the idea of Owen's character. it wasn't difficult to watch. it was just...it's just not worth talking about. it should have been a lot better, but it fails somewhere. I can't exactly put my finger on it. it had a lot going for it, but at the end of the day, it was perfectly forgettable and not very entertaining.
