I see. That sounds about right at first but would they also take responsibility if what they take part in is not all that successful? What I read is they're only arguing for larger piece of the large cake and complimentary cupcakes for starters. Will they accept part of the blame some cakes didn't rise as well? Besides, if they were the best (or at least any good) at what they're doing would that even be an issue? They could demand any reasonable payment and bonuses, wouldn't they? It seems they only wanna get rid of the competition (writers that aren't members of the guild) and/or are unable to negotiate better stance. What I understand so far (I might be missing pieces of the puzzle mind you) is their strike can only be seen as their own incompetence on parade. Good riddance IMO. Hope they keep on marching out of the city limits

EDIT: Shit, I've forgotten why I came here in the first place. All those hungry people make me mad angry. In balance, angry people make me mad hungry  Anyway, watched "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares". This is possibly the only reality show that I was interested in if I don't count BBC's "The Ship" and that was more a documentary of sorts. Ramsay is terribly funny and swear words are flying about so often like it's some kind of contest. He's also an excellent chef and his organisational skills are admirable to say the least. All in all a really good show IMO that doesn't get boring not for a second and his methods are so surreal it barely feels like a reality show at all.

I can't blame anyone for thinking that it's a retelling of the first.

I can; it shows complete ignorance to narrative form. Its been a while but doesn't ash even narrate the beginning bit? I'd be surprised if said people could button up their own pants.

Its a simple matter of not having the rights to show the first movie, i find it utterly amazing that people can't follow simple narrative. No wonder films are so dumb these days if people can't differentiate between past and present.

I watched the abyss and it really pissed me off. You can see where its censored and its really annoying.

The bit where they 'drown' the rat is badly edited and looks dreadful, checking up on it the BBFC has cut out the scene. Good job i didn't buy the dvd or it would be sent straight back for a refund.

Malkovich...

Malkovich... Malkovich... Malkovich... Malkovich...

Malkovich... Malkovich...

Malkovich! Malkovich... Malkovich... Malkovich...

Very good film, i'd never seen it before but would really recommend it. Its a kind of film that's just not made very often and for that reason, even if it doesn't appeal to you should make the time for.

being john malkovich? nice idea. boring as hell movie.

@myk. iunno. I think writing is worth a lot more than it's paid in relation to the other big three: acting and directing. but that's also cuz actors are grossly overpaid. and producers are doing more of the "writing" work than they should (and by gawd does it show).

but... all hollywood does now is takes things somebody else has written!, i say they shouldn't get a penny until they start writing something original for a change, be like me ripping an advert page for a dvd set out of the tv book, writing my name on it and saying "i wrote this series give me loads of money"

didn't find being john boring, maybe the lack of super women and/or xmen?

I liked it, not as much as i was expecting with all the comments about it but certainly a movie that would have won some oscars in any other year apart from 1999 (up against American Beauty... didn't stand much of a chance).

F4:RotSS  I'll go put my head in the toilet and flush it now. That movie is so incredibly lame there's not a single aspect of it that was even remotely close to being good. I though OK, so it's this shit movie but hey it might be fun all the same and at least visuals might be nice or something... So fucking not! SS is all shiny silver yet his surface does not even reflect surroundings, fire effects are so duh DX7 beats them by miles, surround sound positioning and ambient effects are the worst I've ever heard,... I won't even mention other aspects, you've all bashed it before way better than I'm capable ATM cuz I think my IQ has just matched my body temperature (in Celsius) And what the fuck was that action score??? I went on the toilet afterwards and started mumbling "Roll out the barrel" to myself

Roll out the barrel; we’ll have a barrel of fun
Roll out the barrel; we’ve got the blues on the run
Bring forth the barrel; let’s have a song of good cheer
Now’s the time to roll the barrel, for the gangs all here

Repeat

But you see you must experience the full spectra others you won't appreciate the good stuff as well IMO ;) It's like how would you know your GF is beautiful if all the girls in the world would be cute little dolls? You need a comparison and this crap of a movie serves as one, it's just that it stretches my limits a bit too much (like a few times too often around the millennium wheel) BTW, thinking of that... next time your GF asks you "does my bum look big in this" try avoiding a reply with "compared to what?"   (In what movie/series was that used???)

Oh, while we're talking crap... Next in line is "Transformers" (I'm preparing myself for the best of what we'll see on screens if WGAW wins :P)

F4:RotSS is actually a far worse movie than Transformers - imo. It's just that I found Transformers offensive whereas RotSS was just childishly inept. Transformers also cost a hell of a lot more to make. Not that money invested is a reliable judge for quality or even for expectations, but I think it was something like $150m to $60m. even aside from that though, I thought everything about Transformers was higher quality than RotSS. But let's be honest, I'm comparing crap and diarrhea here. as triumph the insult comic dog would say, it's like pooping on poop.

heroes. this should have been in the first three episodes. honestly. the stuff that's going on here is good. it's just so hopelessly and needlessly jumbled. iunno about others, but I find most of the jumble annoying rather than clever.

s2 should have BEGUN with hiro in japan and followed his story all the way through with maybe 5 minutes devoted to every other character just to let us know who survived s1. I also don't have a problem interleaving sylar and the wonder twins because those arcs aren't (it seems) directly dependent upon hiro's trip in time to japan.

anyway, things are picking up now. but the previews for the last couple weeks are GAWD awful. the voice overs really grate on my brain.

personally hiros journey in japan is ok but its being handled so shitly that i don't really care that much about it, the one i care about more is the whole parkman story, and i guess the peter one is ok too, but really its jsut yeah i had all these powers then forgot

didn't you see yesterday's episode yet? I won't spoil if you haven't, but suffice it to say that everything having to do with hiro is of direct relevance to EVERYTHING else, and it is a prerequisite before anything else in s2 can be discussed (pretty much).

FYI: if you're interested in spoilers, there are very brief episode summaries of the next 4 or 5 eps on aicn: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/34696
I looked at them for a few seconds before I realized what the hell I was doing.

@Dinky - I think we all agree Heroes is not what it used to be and why is that exactly ;)

heroes had a cracking first season, season 2 jsut seems to be mostly an aimless jumble, yesterdays ep has tried it's best to drag it back up to standard but it's still a bit silly in places, like for instance when it comes up saying noah bennett, then we see him calling mohinder and it cuts away to mohinder immediately, that scene of bennett calling him just seemed pointless and out of place and just silly
