iirc, it's a burton film. and you could say that about all of them. except I like most of them, including Pee Wee.

not, i was being serious, what's the whole angle of Pee-Wee Herman, is he autistic? His tv show is just the same and I just wondered is that the explaination?

Film was pretty well directed, music was good, there's some neat scenes in it. Okay movie, i guess :)

However, Pee-Wee.... he's gotta have some brain problem right?

well, he's always been a "special" character. but no, I don't think he's supposed to be autistic. or "queer," although both labels could be argued for. I always thought he was just supposed to be "unique," the guy who looks at life through a different lens. of course, the show is blatant mocking of mr. rogers' neighborhood. except being a nickelodeon show (I think?) it really WAS a mr. rogers kinda show. paul rubbins is not shel silverstein, but he is shel silverstein light. I liken Pee Wee to one of those creations. looking up the movie, it was co-written by phil hartman. definitely one of those movies that fits burton's m.o. perfectly: adult-kiddy-sarcastic-warped. anyway, I'd say autistic is far too rigid a distinction for the character. more OCD than autistic, I think. never liked the series. or any of the other movies.

/me shrugs.

got the Wii working on plasma 480p. Looks good. in the sense that the plasma is shit for rendering composite, s-vid or coax cable signals. the receiver is not upscaling anything. played tennis for a bit. bought a couple rubber protectors for the controllers just to find out the fucking things don't work with the recharging station. that was annoying. I tried to cut them to fit, but that just make a mess of everything. I'd rather have the recharging stuff than the slick looking controller covers, but they were pretty neat. :?

oh yeah, put a new yamaha rx-v361 receiver in the living room cuz at $200, it cost slightly less than a good component swtich, and I needed the extra component in for the Wii (as already mentioned, the plasma looks terrible w/o the component-in). bleah.

oh! got a kegerator the other day too! ordered a bullet keg of blue moon for me first trial.

question: why is RE4 only $29 on the Wii? does it suck? or is it an old port? I see they have a gun for it.

heh, look who's up so early in the morning :P anyway, watched "Sunshine" last night and I thought it was a total mess. Some visuals are quite nice and there's some action but, all in all, it's an "Event Horizon" rip-off and with even less believable science behind its story at that. While it does have a generic appeal to sci-fi fans it's most definitely not my cup of tea.

resident wiivil (clever huh?) is a 'budget' game, cost me £20, rrp is £25, games like Zelda can pull off £39.99-44.99 easily because frankly, it was like the best game last year

Recommend RE4 remake, its old but its much better. They've ported back all the ps2 additions, but its the best version because of the tight controls. it was just the excuse i was looking for to play it again :)

 i know, its coming to ps3 and 360, so i will have to get one of them, holding off at the moment for one reason

at wrok for the new catalogue launch we have got a competition for the region, whichever store shifts 115 pallets of catalogues (each pallet contains about 48 catalogues) within 8 weeks will get the chance to have a name drawn out of the hat, and whoevers name is on it gets to choose something from the catalogue and price doesn't matter.

so im waiting in the hope my name comes out so the 360 or ps3 are mine :D

i'm in 360s camp, cheaper, better games and games i actually want.

PS3's lineup just got really shitty with the delay of GTA IV this year.

Fable2, GTA IV and RE5 are the only 'next gen' games i'm looking at, if GTA IV comes out on the pc at the same time, or close, that makes 2 console games... not worth buying a console really. Shame crapcom don't do proper pc games.

all those game just do nto do it for me anymore... a game need to be online for my taste now.. computer ai's just suck.... co-op and deathmatch style games are the way to go.

Massive online games.... dosn't have to be a role playing game like warcraft / warhammer / gildwars etc etc etc .. though those kind of things are cool... but anything with consistent world and online play....

As far as I know these are souly the zone of pc / mac games... the console just hasn't reached there yet. Sure we have games with online map sharing like halo and stuff... but.. compare that to say the battlefield games.... no contest for complexity.

And games like fable.. run around and hit stuff by yourself.. no contest imo. Until console games get with the times and enter the online market I think they are a waste of space.

pah battlefield isnt even a console game, sure they have one or 2 variations to keep console fanboys happy, but battlefield is a pc game first and foremost

As for other console games, games can be good single player if they have an engrossing story, like the resident evil games

Sorry jynks, but i can't find you credible anymore if you discount the greatest game ever created, Zelda, for the mere lack of online. /me slaps jynks with a soiled glove

I'm not a fan of tacked on online, there's very few games i play online because most of them just aren't as worthwhile an experience as an excellent single player game. They are a time filler, even the best ones. Its like comparing sports to a movie, or it would if i gave a shit about sports

I'm with max really, single player adventure games are an experience, online in every game i've played is just a time filler and not as engrossing (apart from killing lots of time). I can accept single player games as an art form, but online games are just entertainment. Its not on the same category of experience.

Its the same reason i can't put RTS on a pedestal next to some truely great single player adventure games, they just don't have the same impact.

So I'd pick Resident Evil 4 over Battlefield 2. I pick Zelda over everything, obviously :)

yeeuck. I hate this mmo crap. it's the most blatant fucking money pit in gaming. I'd rather feed quarters at the arcade. it's not that it would cost more. it's the goddamn principle of the thing. on the other hand, I did pay for xboxlive and was paying for 360 too. :?

oh. silly me. I guess I'm still living in 1998. I thought RE was all about nintendo. :?

well I'm not buying mario fecking strikers. might try the baseball game. want something that actually uses the wiimote. don't wanna start on zelda though. I know I won't be able to stop if I get into it. I saw a driving wheel attachment or peripheral. anything for that? sadly, I think I'll be playing Wii Sports for the next 6 months. and that's just tennis!

oh! and WTF?! the Wii has wifi built in. built into it! yet stereo audio is the best it can do, and it comes with one measly composite rca connector. weird decision making. I like the SD cards thing...assuming you can format any sd card for it.

Arcade + Online, that's a good comparison; there's a lack of art form, craft and experience... its more competition and upfront fun without the lasting impression.

Resident Evil was a PSX game, it didn't come out on a nintendo platform until the half-assed GBA game, the sequel that was ported to the n64 years after the psx sequels came out, and then when the first was remade on the gamecube not too many years back. But then your forgiven, you thought RE was a FPS

Mario strikers is actually one of the better games on the wii in terms of arcade style fun, if its anything like the original and what the review scores make it out to be.

Wii does Dolby Pro-Logic II (5.1), i have it linked up to mine and it comes out in the rear channels when something creeps up behind me. Any fat32 SD card works in the wii, good addition cos when i return the wii to nintendo to get it fixed i can keep my saves without buying a memory card :)

 back in the day, most of the "cool" games were arcade exclusives.

anyway, I don't doubt that mmo's are kick ass - or can be. I get it. WoW is right up my alley as a fantasy guy and one who plays MTG.

the only comparison was the way they continuously suck the money from your wallet. I'm sure it will be the norm for all gaming once ps3, and 360 run their course. but I can still resent it.

is it re4 on wii that comes with the shotgun attachment for the wiimote, or is it the umbrella chronicles game? essentially re1 and 2 from fps
