What's your upload speed if you don't mind me asking? if you've got anything less than 5mbit up, your never going to be able to share all these movies at once.

Check out the stats link after the links, usually takes me about 2 weeks to share a movie properally before i can move on. I'm on 256kbit upload, and that would be 24/7

That's if these are fresh releases with no sources to start with of course

upload is only 256k. Most of the films that I am releasing will stay on external 500GB harddrive until sources are established. My emule runs 24/7.

The problem with that you appear as the only source for all these files and your queue will be huge and very hard to penetrate to a position where you can download. The result is that the files will take a very, very, very long time to complete, where as if you powershare for two weeks and then move on, you establish multiple full sources and the bottleneck isn't on negotiating several thousand positions in your emule queue

In actual fact, many servers will either ban you or ignore any of your shares over 100 files big... it varies from server to server(kad doesn't have a limit as such, but you have bigger over head). It is recommended that you share one or two releases rather than piling everything in your share, that way it prevents a sharing bottleneck and files become more deeply spread and easier to get. It can actually be very counter productive, sharing more than focusing your efforts on a few files and then moving on.

If you want i'll dig out a link from the creator of the emule software explaining why its bad to share lots and lots, rather than focusing your efforts on a couple of files at once. Will take a bit of digging but shouldn't be overly hard to find.

What needs to happen is that the one file gets multiple sources so your not creating an ever worsening bottleneck where people can't get at the files and more are gettting piled on top making it even harder to get the files.

I found this out the hard way many years ago Its just impossible to share this much at once efficiently, without all the files appearing sourceless and very hard to get


Emule isn't overly advanced, and the problem with it is that queues are huge. To that end, its better to get multiple sources behind a release before moving on

thinking about it, if your sharing 24/7 you can get away with 1 week. Best thing to do is to click stats after a link to find out how well spread it is, then move on when it reaches 4 or so.

oh and i'm not suggesting unsharing, to the contrary, just keeping one file on Powershare and Release prioity for two weeks. Then moving onto another file and then posting a link on the forums. That way you'll effectively focusing all the bandwidth on the single file and because its being powershared on release, all the requests for that go through to that one

Thanks for the info. I am used to bittorrents where there are no backlogs or queues. I will slow up a bit on the releases so that everyone gets a chance to grab some of this rare stuff...

That would be awesome, yeah, the big difference between torrent and emule is queue sizes and chunks.

Torrent is tiny little pieces and small queues, emule is 8mb pieces and huge queues.
