Plot Summary: Marshal W.T. O'Niel is assigned to a mining colony on Io, one of Jupiter's moons. During his tenure miners are dying - usually violently. When the marshal investigates he discovers the one thing all the deaths have in common is a lethal amphetamine-type drug, which allows the miners to work continuously for days at a time until they become "burned out" and expire. O'Niel follows the trail of the dealers, which leads to the man overseeing the colony. Now O'Niel must watch his back at every turn, as those who seek to protect their income begin targeting him...

Yeah, well I'm not too happy about it as the colors are a bit bleached

I think the SW I use defaults (with no option to change) to TV color space (whichever that may be-- most probably YUY) and most of the rips out there use RGB color space which I think looks better on CRTs/LCDs...

If you intend on watching it on your PC screen then I suggest you enable some sort of automatic luminance control (like the one in ffdshow decoder) or adjust brightness just a bit in your player for best experience. It should look OK on most TV sets, though-- The picture quality of the original DVD isn't brilliant either

Next time I do rips I won't be taking shortcuts with "all in one" SW (the one I used was the best of those I tried and obviously still sucks big time) and rather use old-fashioned methods that still kick

If there are plenty of perfectionists about then I shall do a new rip and post it here. Terribly sorry for any inconvenience It's true, though, that most of the scenes of this movie are rather dark so you'd be most probably adjusting your screen's brightness anyhow

Yes, I've seen that one. It's 1 CD release and according to the rules it's OK to post better quality rips in the same section. Would be nice IMO if Spud could join this posts somehow, though. Don't know what's the advised procedure on that, otherwise I'd do it myself...

I know that it's not, just wanted to point out that "classic" ripping methods still rule if anybody wondered. I see from your sample frame capture that you use either different color conversion or adjusted output levels (looks similar to PowerDVD's "Vivid" output) than what's default RGB output of the original DVD with vanilla MPeG II decoder. Have you came across any good links for what's best method or even wrote somewhere anything about this? Thanks in advance!
