Motherboard upgrade advice

Postby Blade Runner on Fri May 21, 2004 5:28 pm

I have an ASROCK P4VX4 at the moment and want to upgrade it. The one I'm drooling over is the ASUS P4C800-E-Deluxe which will cost me around £150 and can afford to buy in a couple of weeks.

I'm wondering if there are any other suggestions I should consider before my sheer bloodymindedness takes over and i just go for the ASUS.

system
CPU: P4 2.8ghz
RAM: 1024mb (for now)
Vid: Nvidia 5600
Sound: Audigy 2
4x WD Hardrives
Case: Cheiftech Dragon
PSU: 550w

I'm obssessed by Epox at the moment. Excellent overclocking abilities and just great design.

Problem is they lack of a really killer board in your range. I take it your just changing your mainboard? Otherwise I'd recommend holding out a couple of months, and then investing in a AMD64. What with windows XP64, and PCIexpress on the horizon...
