by negative, I meant 2/5 stars and C+/C/C-. but I'd say what you said was the most common thing I read:
its not for everyone. Americans have always been intolerant of "foreign" movies so i doubt this is any different.... Whilst using the word bizarre i think that sums up the movie, its not an easy, straight narrative which is a thing that typically scares and confuses American audiences too

Just signed up to imdb forums and had a look through night watch forums... they are all americans. Read into that what you will.

Worth mentioning the Fox International cut is different to the domestic, they cut out a butt load of characters.

Average uk review across all the big critics/publications (not the paid off, 9 thumbs up people) is 4/5.

yes, there's only two cuts one was seen only in Russain territories and the other seen by everyone else. I've seen Sonys cut myself, its probably not as good as it should be but I still enjoyed it.

I'm going to do a ARF rip sooner or later with the cinematic subtitles (the ones that integrate themselves into the movie and exit with the characters and what not). Thus far i've only ever seen standard srts and not the original one.

edit: rip of the international that is,

just got back from Pirates</i>. it was decent. definitely bloated. the first movie was MUCH more streamlined. I'm not sure if that's a result of editing or writing. I suspect the latter. it's fun and all, but doesn't hold a candle to the first one except in one respect - keira knightly is sexy in this. ok, she's just plain hot always. but her character plays on it in a way that didn't happen in the first one. it's kinda like princess jasmine for adults but before it gets to the point of hentai. 8)

anyway, as all the world knows, this movie was shot with a third in production as well (ala matrix sequels/lotr trilogy, I guess), but I know for a fact they're not done shooting the third either cuz it's going to have a cameo by keith richards as jacky's papa. so it's not breaking any news to say that the movie doesn't have much of an ending to it.

it has flashes of "the good stuff," but to me, it was like trying to watch temple of doom</i> after having seen raiders of the lost ark</i>. I only hope the analogy holds, and the third installment will be an improvment on its predacessor like last crusade</i>.

watched final destination 3 today, it was pretty lame, the first was ok but fd2 is definately the best of the series, but 3 just out and out was lame and just felt dragging, like it kind of knew what sort of general area it was meant to be in but never quite actually got there. a waste of time really

also watched ice age 2, not as good as the first one altho more screen time for scrat, which if alls said he is really the real star of ice age 1 and 2

meh. I thought it was decent. wasn't really into the first one either. I rate both well above madagascar though, which I thought was retarded except for the penguins being entertaining. dunno why I speak of them in same breath but...c'est la vie.

Played through PREY. Great game, lots of novelty such as shifting points of gravity, portals and what not and looks great (using the Doom3 engine, but doesn't suck like doom3/quake4). There's duke nuke'm-esque style lead dialogue, although no where near as cool, and the "cowbell" aduction (nothing actually scripted about cowbells, they all get abducted to "Dont Fear the Reaper" though and i just can't think of that song without Christopher Walken demanding more cowbell) just sums it up. Great game.

The plot/atmosphere seems eerily familiar though, anyone know where i might be getting that from? I mean living ships have been done before, as well as the consumption/almalgamation of other matter, but i remember seeing something with the same basic storyline too.

Don't Fear The Reaper is a great song, it's always played on Planet Rock the rock specialist (only on DAB radio) and the only radio station i allow on at work otherwise i have to hand out beatings, and it's not pretty

i felt midway through season 2 it started focusing less on the whole sci-fi element and more on the family/romance/drama parts instead with the sci-fi as a background play, the end fo season 2 seemed to pick up though with the whole infection and whatnot but it remains to be seen how the complete season 3 will progress i guess

yeah, the verdict is still out on it. I don't think it's even halfway through s3 yet. but...let's just say...well...you remember how s2 ended? well I think that last little moment with a grown-up isabelle was the beginning of the end for 4400. every time she appears in an ep, I get bored and want to fast forward (and she's big at least in the s3 eps I've seen).
