Masters of Scifi ?

Postby spudthedestroyer on Tue May 30, 2006 10:56 pm

From Fangoria #251
FANG: How Do you feel about doing a second season?
BERGER: From what I understand they're going to do another season, because we stored all our stuff there for the next one, and if they didn't think they were going to do it again, they would have shipped it back to us. They're also keeping the facility and the stages open and are storing everything there. There's also talk about a Masters of Sci-Fi, but Greg and I were discussing it, and that series would be unlike this one, which is a director-driven project. That would have to be writer-driven, but if you look at the writers, you have the usual suspects like Harlan Ellison and William Gibson and so forth, but you also have so much SF already out there. We've already seen The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, so what are we brining to the table that's new? The one I said I wanted to be involved with was Masters of Porno: I'd be on set every day for that one!

Nice. Porno comment too

Anyway, after reading that I googled and low and behold...

hell, I'd actually watch that. (couldn't be arsed to watch masters of horror even for a director I liked - think it was robert rodriguez...only other name I can think of is romero).

anyway...sci-fi writers don't need help getting their work turned into movies/television, but they sure could use some good translations of their writing to the screen. witness practically every sci-fi anything ever run on television.

imdb entry up: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0772139/

PC_A just pointed out that the B5 creator is contributing writing, so it might be something to watch. Whether it will be a great core b5 affair, or something comparable to the other mishaps he has his name to is another matter. Lets hope for the former.

He's got writers credits for things ranging from B5 to Twilight Zone to the Real Ghostbusters ( ). Then again he's got writing credits for Murder She Wrote and Walker Texas Ranger too!

Ohhh.. that sounds great and I am glad that they are going with wtritters over directors.. that is a reallty good idea. Scifi is way more consept driven./ It could also mean that some really good authers that are not necaserryl;y script writters could get some work done.. (here is hoping)

Lets hope this is bulled off

never saw it, tbh. I laughed at the leads and thought it looked kinda jesus/preachy. it's sci-fi, so you'd think I'd give it a chance...eventually.

I've seen it and it deserved to get canceled. There are plenty of good short stories they could have used but instead they chose 4 stories that are mediocre at best. After all the hype it was a big disappointment to me.

well..at least among the geek crowd :) Every preview was raving about the quality of the series and how wrong the network was for not giving it a chance.
