Out of Harddrive Space!!!

Postby Jynks on Sun Apr 02, 2006 8:55 pm

Man I keep running out of Hdrive space andfinding that I've lost a nights worth of downloading!!!

Is tehre a way to set mule to "reserve" the space gfor the files it will downlaod as you add them. So when you try to start a file it will make a temp file of the correct size.. if there isn't room it will say so and leave the file unresumed?

Under extended "Create new part files as 'sparse' (NTFS only)", reserves space for all of them.

yeah buy some seagate hard drives, and pop one of them in then keep them in storage somewhere.

It took me ages to find them in the uk though and for the price i get a new carrier with the caddy.

Carrier and Caddy should be ablout £20, probably £5+ less in the states, and then you just buy a new caddy when you get another hard drive.

yeah i used to have hdd caddys before, hated them, this was back in 2001 thought when they were utter shit and the hilarious moment while drunk on vodka both me and a mate of mine decided then would be the perfect time to try and sort out my computer... "it wont come out.... yes its unlocked... CRACK..... oops.... HAHAHHAHHAHHA"

hotswap = SATA or SCSI only, if you swapped pata drives out they are liable to mess up and your os to crash.

@ max,
I'm sure they have retarded mate insurance on some models. However, these are f*ckin awesome, sounds like you cheaped out and got one up the ass for it

Best and most viable backup solution atm imo.
Overhead is a little over the cost of a hdd, and these days GB/£ is rather cheap on hdd.
