or was that just shane black's script?

No it was really shit directing too... sloppy camera setups and the like, figures someone that lame would have been behind the camera. I still think its decent enough entertainment and way better than all the other movie's he did.

Watched Die hard with A Vengance. I stand by what i said, Die Hard With A V is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Die Hard 2. I think by 'die hard-ish' you mean claustrophobic? Yeah i get that, but i thought number 3 works way better than number 2 did which tried to clone. I wouldn't say its much more comedy/action than any of the others, its just as violent and the comedy is much more like the first one than the second one (ie. its funny one liners, not unfunny one liners).

Warning about the uk dvd collection, die hard 3 is the american cut version. With the knife cut to the throat and lots of "mother fuckers" cut out. Yanks and their swearing

Anyhow, 3 > 2 if you ask me :)

Watched loads of episode of robot chicken, some funny shit.. Highly recommended if you haven't seen it before. Warped enough for me to enjoy and its got the usual suspects doing voices (seth green and co.).

Watched Sar Wars, love asian comedies, they have just the right mix of stupidity, slapstick and snappy editing to make them really excellent. These days i would take an asian comedy over a shitty american one any day of the week. Once again, just shows how shit hollywood is at making movies these days.
"Oh no! Made in Thailand!"

Watched the Tobe Hooper episode of Masters of Horror. It was really stupid, i flicked through the next one but wasn't in the mood... looked a bit slow serial killer flick.

Got New Statesman on DVD max, i wouldn't say its just conservatives these days. Rik Mayall should do another series to take the piss out of labour, its just the right time for him to pick it up again.

what i meant was when it was made it was dead anti conservative, but yeah he should do another one, the time is right

I saw king kong yesterday. I got the ticket for free so i thought why not. Oh boy was i wrong. The movie is 3 hours long although it felt more like 7 (and im sure they are going to release a directors cut version that is even longer than that). The story is basically the same as the 1933 version with a lot of silly CGI fights (boxing with 3 t-rexes? i mean seriously ). If you thought that agent smith sequence from matrix was long you are in for a surprise. A loooong one. The effects are great from a technical point of view though. Its a pity all that talent got wasted on such a sucky movie.

It has a score of 8.3 on IMDB. Oh my god..are those Peter Jackson fans for real? They are even worse than tarantino fanboys. And some of the reviews are even mentioning Oscars. They are called razzies dammit.

Anyway...watch the original or even charlies angels. Its shorter and better.

Funny thing though..it was a premiere and there were probably only 20 of us in the cinema :)

yeah but you have no taste. as lame as episode one was, charlies angels is worse, and charlies angels 2 is even more pathetic.

At least you have the fighting at the end of phantom weakass, and there's a couple of action sequences.

Whereas charlies angels was just shit, i think i turned that crap off. I know i turned number 2 off.

no matter what you think to my taste at least it isnt a taste that conforms to the "oh its got flashy effects so its good lets all rush out to watch it" school of thinking that makes complete tosh like fast and the furious, king kong, matrix, etc popular

oh i forgot i watched the warriors too

That's one of your kind of films, 70s cult cheese on toast. As far as 70s cult movies go The Warriors is cool

Infact, since its techically a scifi...
viewtopic.php?t=2088
They are remaking it too :wacky: That's really surprising these days. Actually the main greif i have with The Warriors is its no where near violent enough. It should be really violent but instead its a tad tame.

ta ill get on with downloading it, i dont recall having actually seen it, the problem with a lot of 70s stuff tho is its too heavy on dialogue and too light on action

superman 2 is on. and it's official: the whole series is cheesefest. this was the best of the four.

it's almost like watching batman & robin</i>. all that's lacking is the neon. in fact, I thought jim carey was just improving his riddler in forever</i>. but, alas, no...he was paying homage to gene hackman. :? I guess that bodes well for the new movie though. tough to be cheesier than this...although I did watch catwoman</i> last year so I really ought to hold my tongue.

I wonder if the 'good' crop of recent comic movies will be so crap in 10 years? iunno. I don't feel that way about episode 4, and that has at least as many cornball lines in it.

the quality of the episodes isn't that great for a modern tvcap but then i don't think the scifi channel is a HDTV is it?

is it 16:9? anything that's 16:9 over here and is originally aired on a network that does do (some) HD will have been in HDTV. if not, then not. well...I should say I haven't seen a program in 4:9 air on an HD channel that wasn't just upconverted.

showtime and hbo both do 4:9 stuff at times. it's clearly not hd. looks about the same on digital & hd channels. same with others.

by upconverted, I mean matted onto 16:9. only an improvment if the analog/digital cable signals are weak/fuct.
