I have no problem watching underground again

underground? :wacky:

If you mean underworld, its probably because its more a portfolio of gunfights, rather than a comic book. Hellboy tries to be a tad more like a comic and builds the character up, a bit like Hulk. hulks a bit more unapproachable for the same reason.

Spiderman and Xmen aren't so much like a comic book either, and the sequels are just the same movie with some sparkly bits cellotaped on (ie more fights).

Then again sin city doesn't have that problem really so it might be because they're not very good they aren't very easy to watch again.

The other but more likely explaination is that they had all the flashy bits and initial appeal, but then on repeat viewings (or lack of) you realise how shallow and stupid the movies are, and its not really got any appeal anymore. That's pretty much describes most hollywood movies.

Sin City pounds the others into the ground though, hulk smash indeed :wacky:

I hated Underworld, bunch of self indulgent unoriginal crap-o-la in my opinion. Hulk, From Hell, Sin City and The Maxx are my fav comic book adaptations.

Aparently they are already talking about a new Sin City. I personaly rate it as a comic book converstion but I found that after Micky gets executed I really start to loose interest.

Talking about Wedons move to film... there is a lot of chat about him doing the new Wonder Woman movie. He was pluggin it on the raido recently..

Wonder Woman @ Comicbook Movies wrote:Australia's ABC Radio National talked to Joss Whedon about his next project, the Wonder Woman movie: "We'll meet a Wonder Woman who is similar to the one from the original comics and from the TV series to an extent," said Whedon. "Neither of them are really a template. I've never loved the comics and I didn't watch the television series, but I loved the character very much." He added that "she doesn't really understand this world, she's very strong but she's also very naive. She's not quite as little as the girls I'm used to writing, but she's definitely one of them in the sense of she'll undergo that kind of baptism of fire that used to be relegated to the male gender. She'll have to come into the world and see how corrupt it is and learn to deal with it and with her own powers. She is kind of, in a way, the grandma of everything I've been writing my whole life, so it makes sense that we should meet." -Thanks to 'Superherohype' for the heads up and the interview clip!

Prob is that he admits to not really even liking the comic... .. . so my hopes are not high.

Sin City 2 @ Comicbook Movies wrote:ugust 24, 2005: "Sin City" scribe and co-director Frank Miller has revealed to Now Playing Magazine that he and director Robert Rodriguez are "working on the final touches of how the story [for Sin City 2] is going to work, and we're right now planning to start shooting in January." While this may seem like an accelerated timetable, the push can be attributed to the first film's box office success as well as Rodriguez's inability to remain idle. "Robert doesn't mess around - he gets right to it," Miller explains. It's unknown at this time whether Miller will make another cameo in the new movie - in the first, he played a priest murdered by Mickey Rourke's Marv character. Miller also notes that the plot for the second film will come from his acclaimed Sin City graphic novel A Dame To Kill For, "plus a new story that I've created for [the movie] that weaves in and out of the larger story." This should comfort fans who are worried that the film franchise will end when the previously-published material runs out. As Miller puts it, "I don't really plan on running out of [material] 'cause I'm still doing [the comics]. ... There's material in my head that could go on forever.

well all i know of wonder woman is that seriously shit tv series... i just plain wouldn't touch it with a ten foot barge poll unless the comics are completely different. Still I'm not huge on comics anyway.

Comic books and games are pretty much on the same page, it just depends how solid the initial idea is and how competant the creative process for the movie project is. When both or one or the other fail, there's little hope for it being any good.

Well i finished hellboy... don't think i'll ever be watching that movie again. Its lost most of its appeal and now i know the story, i don't think its worth the time :(

Watched Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Friggin ace movie, simple, straight forward but just well made, particularly on a low budget.

Watched the xmas episode of xfiles, followed by the rainman episode and the Bruce Campbell episode after it

I just saw the Dukes of Hazzard.... some decent driving in it but there wasn't enough and the rest of the movie was a waste of time... All they needed to do to make this film work was have blues brother style car chacing.

I like wonder woman. She is one of te old school heros from just after the war so it very dated. Like superman or batman, but still has some good stories. I think it would be a good movie if done even 1/2 of wat the story in the comic is like.

finally got around to watching Druids. It was a boring, bad movie (what one would expect from christopher lambert, really). And I was really bummed when I recognized what the movie was about right away, having read Caesar's Gallic Wars</i> and knowing Roman history during this time (which, btw, is only a few years before the events in the current HBO series Rome</i>. WTF? Druids? they're hawking this thing as a fantasy flick. Then I searched it in imdb and holy shit: it's a french movie. and the original title was Vercingétorix, la légende du druide roi</i>. the english title was adopted by canada and slapped on the US versions as well. anyway, it's just supposed to be a dramatization of the gallic wars told from the gallic perspective (Vercingetorix was the only gaul to have any substantial success against the romans). hollow movie but more understanding if one thinks of it as yet-another-joan-of-arc kind of thing.

watched underworld</i> superbit. couldn't tell a damn different between that and a copy of the scene release dvdr from a couple years ago.

watched the latest ep of rome</i>. solid flick. they don't even bother trying to show full fledged battle scenes, which I suppose is good cuz it would cost a lot of money for minimal reward. I'm looking forward to jerking off tonight.

oh! that reminds me. I tried an adult on demand channel last night cuz...well...I'd looked at the titles before and they seemed to be hardcore porn but I thought it was illegal and that cable only did softcore stuff. so I shelled out $10 to...umm...investigate. and holy shit! full-on hardcore action! except the three scenes I watched, it was clear that they cut the scene just before the cumshot. and there was just bj's and basic fucky. but still, I was amazed that they were allowing that even on pay per view basis. one of the few signs that we're becoming less conservative and uptight in this country. hey, it's da little t'ings dat count, eh?

corpse bride</i>. it was ok. I don't like musicals. they're quite fun live onstage, but on film, they're just fuckall boring. still...I was mildly interested in how the love triangle would resolve itself and mildly unsatisfied with the mildly bland way in which it did. word of the day: mild. I wanted to see domino</i> cuz keira knightly is GODDESS. but I wasn't going to wait around an hour and a half for the first screening.

i thik with corpse bride half of the film is the look. Films like corpse bride are kinda like comics the art in them is more important than the story. Well for me anyways, I definatly look at cartoon, 3D etc etc movies mroe for the art than the story.... strange though that for me this dosn't spread to real world special effects... for example I do not go all gaga over the special effects in say Serenity etc as a "art"

I still think little shop of horrors (the remake) is a great musical.. and Rocky Horror of course.

latest ep of smallville</i>. nothing really to say. plots are awfully recycled and chincy but it's superman and it's not quite lois and clark</i> (yet) so I find myself still tuning in. only other current series is rome</i>. might have to check out my name is earl</i>

i watched latest smallville aswell and ive also noticed the plots are getting a bit recycled, but ive been reading up on whats to come, and it seems to just be turning into "oooh male character a & female character b fancy each other, might date for a bit and possibly hint that theyve had sex" each week which is a bit tiresome, but the promise of Erica Durance (Lois) goin undercover as a pole dancing stripper and doin a raunchy striptease could be something to watch out for :D
