Highlander was an original story by Gregory Widen who also wrote Backdraft and The Prophecy (both brilliant films) and his collaboration with Peter Bellwood and Larry Ferguson on the screenplay is excellent. They have produced a film with a tremendous story that includes action, romance, tragedy, a philosophical perspective and some spectacular sword play. Russell Mulcahy could not have directed the film any better it is quite phenomenal, an absolute masterpiece. The way he managed to link the flashbacks to Macleods past to the present day are inventive and unsurpassed. The film also contains some of the most beautiful film of Scotland you will ever see (Braveheart couldn't do better, even with a bigger budget!)

As far as I'm concerned, there is only ONE Highlander film and that's the original. So I'm not even going to bother looking for the other ones

I heard once that this script was in fact just a scool project by Gregory Widen. His teacher was very impressed and told him he should work a little more on it and try to see if anyone was interested in buying it.

What the heck is the 'Immortal Edition'? Better audio, extras, what?

yeah, I was wondering that too.

It appears to contain better picture and sound quality, along with anamorphic aspect ratio (1.85:1, dunno why this release is different), DTS and lots of extras on the 2-disc DVD set which, incidentally, was released on the 16th of April 2004, if anyone cares.

I found more info on all that here.

i was always wondering what the difference between this and the normal version was aswell

i agree it is definately the best highlander movie of the 3 (any not featuring lambert, and that includes shitelander 4 even though he was in it) are just not even worthy of being classed, the same goes for the live action tv series, although teh cartoon was pretty cool from what i remember when i was a kid

ive got highlander 2 and 3 on dvd

i also agree it is the most beautiful film of scotland ever, ive been to the tower that is featured there, smailholm tower i believe it is but either way i have been there (but i may have got the name wrong)

the soudtrack by queen aswell fiits teh movie perfectly

I've always found it amusing that this is on the IMDB top list, whilst all the sequals are at the bottom list. =)

Seams Highlander was knocked of the top list though. It used to be there.

Several of HHAH releases are on the bottom list.

If that 'soundtrack' is what I think it is, it's NOT the Highlander Soundtrack, it's Queen: A Kind of Magic. Yes it's the music from Highlander, but never labeled or promoted as the Highlander Soundtrack.

Yeah, it's pretty fruity. But then again, so was the band. Good tunes though. This is the only album I own by them. Never liked them otherwise.
