They are better rips, but the thing that stands out the most is the aspect ratio and higher resolution.

shame S1 wasn't Xvid though but i guess they where ripped before it became the norm and most rips used to use divx3 according to the TDX guidelines in those days.....i wonder if a brand new rip with Xvid and decent specs would go down well with anyone on the ed2k network and whether they'd get as much support downloading since corwins rips are still pretty well spread

I must admit, not so keen on divx 3 myself.
But I also have to be honest, they do look good.
I could rerip them in xvid, but I don't think it will improve on quality.
Only difference would be xvid instead of divx.
Also keep in mind that it's an old series, could show you some screens from the dvd. Original isn't that great either.
You can clearly see some artifacts on them (blocks that show on high compression) in some scenes.
Overal it is still okey, far better than the Tour of Duty dvd's.
Almost started to scream when I saw the rips of those.

I made a mistake with eps 5x2 and 5x3.
The files where mixed up when I named them.
So if you added episode 2 before this post to your client, rename it to:
- Highlander.-.05x03.-.Manhunt.dvdrip.XviD.Vae_Victis.avi
And download:

I've finally finished downloading the file with the bonus discs. However on unzipping it the files were in mdf and corresponding mds format. I've never come across this format before and have no idea what software to use to view the files without burning them on a CD. Can someone help me out or point me to some links or something. Thanks.

I created those cd images with alcohol 120%.
You could use that to burn them.
If I'm not mistaken you can also mount them with daemontools.
