Nochnoj Dozor (2004)

Fox has signed a three-pic deal with the writer/director of the Russian Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Thriller hit Night Watch (Nochnoj Dozor). Fox Searchlight will distribute Timur Bekmambetov's pic and its sequel, Day Watch. Studio will then go into production on a big-budget prequel to both films, Dusk Watch, which will be released by Fox and it leaves an opportunity for Fox to remake Night Watch and Day Watch as English-language sequels. They are based on books by Sergei Lukyanenko.
Blood, action and suspense helped "Night Watch" rake in $13 million in the three weeks after it was released on July 8, almost as much as the last "Lord of the Rings" film made in two months in Russia. Movie budged $4 million. 8)

Sorry, no English!

Day Watch (Dnevnoj Dozor) is the sequel to Night Watch, wich should come out in 2005. And for 2006 the prequel Dusk Watch (Sumerechnij Dozor) is planned! 8)

From that naming scheme, sure looks like it's taken from the Night/Dawn/Day trilogy.

You really, really like it?
This is about the worst movie I've ever seen...
Well actually the trouble is, I've read the books and they are one of my favorites - so I took it as a personal offense... In the movie, everything's turned right over, and they've left the stupid parts and taken away all the meaning... It's so sad..

Not to mention they've been very... liberal... with the plot and stuff..
Although it all sticks, they say, when you watch the second one.. which by the way is coming out on January 1 in Russia.

this movie is so bad I think it gave me caner. I reckon you all might be better off going to a church and listening to a sermon... probably be less preachy, less melodramatic, and less pretentious. This movie promises to be good, but end up just another pice of crap on the heap of junk that is the "good vs evil supernatural cops and robbers" type flicks. I rate it about the same as constentien. I tried twice to see this at the cinema, once I fell asleep, so when other time, as I had seen the first 1/2 I went outside and played pinball for about an hour.. thats how much I liked this flick.

Spoiler:
For example how TERRIBLE was the bit when that chick with the vortex over her head, you know the one with the curse. Just suddenly is free of the curse and everything stops, or when the plane that crashes into the building is suddenly completly fine. This list could go on and on and on.

With you on this one, Jynks; This sucked like a Vacuum-Cleaner :o
Started off quite promisingly; Hence they use the medieval-stuff in all the ads, (the best part of a shite film, imo); I was hoping it was going to be like that the whole way thru
Kudos to it being the first 'BIG' Russky-film, tho... (Read; Hollywood-Brain-Out-BIG)
