An independent movie, that was released on a German ed2k-site – with the explicit ok of film-maker Gerry Schuster. Free hand translation of the release thread:
The film-factory presents their newest work: A Science Fiction Kung Fu Film Noir.
"Jimmy Tornado" is the 9th work of Gerry Schuster as director.
The flicks aesthetics remind of old black/white crime movies, but is full with science fiction elements and borrows from trivia-comics and the eastern genre. The result is a cinematic pop-culture-mixture, that makes the hearts of all video-nerds and comic-fans bump.
The protagonist of this cult Z-movie is private detective Jimmy Tornado, a booze drinking colossus, who always pulls the trigger first and appears like the product of reactionary fantasies of authors like Mickey Spillane: The big guy, who takes the law in his own hands.
Jimmy Tornado lives in a world populated by aliens, androids and mutants, where life only counts as much as the speed to pull your gun.
One day Tornado is hired by the dubious Sebastienne Zabadak-Dupont to find her disappeared husband-to-be Raoul Protektor. Obviously Protektor is in a mysterious way connected with a growing number of murders and disappearances.
A turbulent chain of events unfolds, that culminates in a furious final shoot-down.
The raw material was filmed on Mini-DV and afterwards cut and edited at the PC. Some of the special effects were done with hand-drawn picture-elements. Production costs of the entire movie were in the three-figures, most requisites were bought on the flea-market.
Costumes and masks were mostly improvised, as well as dialogues and even parts of the story-line.
The movie owns its existence also to the open-mindedness of the actors, many coming from the free film- and theatre-scene and participating unpaid.
Also video-technicians and martial artists could be won for voluntarily and unpaid work.
Great significance also goes to the soundtrack, that was exclusively produced for the movie, composed by six musicians from the Hardcore-, Industrial- and Electro-scene.
