An asteroid is heading for earth…US government fails to destroy it and instead the asteroid passes earth, pushing its orbit closer to the sun.
Temperatures start to rise and the only place where people will be able to survive is Antarctica. Policeman Tom (van Diem) current girlfriend Carly (Von Peetten) ex girlfriend Bonnie (Terzo) their daughter Kimberley and Carly’s brother and scientist Nathan (Gale) have to head to an airport to catch a plane organized by Nathan.
In the meanwhile the city has descended into anarchy and the group have to survive rising temperatures, looters and rescue Nathan after he is kidnapped by a group of dirty cops.

A story making the rounds says that this film was originally written by John Carpenter in the late '70s, and the script lay in limbo until the early '90s, when it was set to star Dolph Lundgren. Eight days before filming, legal issues between distribution companies supposedly caused it to shut down. However, according to writer/director Rick Drew, he developed the story from scratch and had never heard of the alleged Carpenter script when he wrote it, and in fact received sole credit from the WGA for the script.
