I was impressed with the visuals when this came out, but now those screenshots make it look like a PC game! :?

I heard a rumour that they spent like 60% of the production time on getting her hair to look real?
Ahh.. no offence, but you are a robot, aren't you?

This is a great "production" and a kinda ok film.... The same production house used the same models (slightly tweaked" to make the 3D bit in animatrix.

I thought the production house went flat bottom broke, or did Square just sell them on? It certainly sunk their dream of branching out of the games industry :o

Square didn't have a lot to do with the film. A new company was set up in America to handel the "jump into films" that square was trying to do.

That company went broke and all the material was sold back to square. They have now got a NEW american company who did the animatrix bit.. aiming for same quality but with a lot less risk as most of the work was done by those other guys.

Final Fantasy is One of my top 5 films of all time. The only way I can describe it is 'Beautiful'

At a time when practically every week holds some sort of step forward in modern visual effects, "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" currently stands as one of the great artistic achievements in film history. A gorgeous, surprisingly meditative look at the beauty of life and the mysteries of death, the film is definitely not standard animated fare. It has the ability to inspire, contemplate, and most important of all, make you care.

Gamespot wrote:FFVII: Advent Children on the Big Screen - [Entertainment]

Only members of FFVII's online fan club will be invited to attend Square Enix's limited big-screen run of Advent Children at three major cities in Japan.

TOKYO--Square Enix announced details on the forthcoming movie debut of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The company briefly disclosed last month that the computer-animated movie will be hitting theaters in Japan before its DVD and UMD release, but did not outline any specific information.

Admission to the movie screenings will not require any tickets, but, like most things that are free, there's a catch. Entrance is by invitation only, and only Final Fantasy VII fans that have already registered to the official "Shinra Company" online fan club hosted at Square Enix's site will be invited. The site is no longer accepting club members at the current time. If more fans sign up than there are seats available, Square will randomly select attendees from the pool.

As expected, the theatrical screening of Advent Children will be a limited run in major cities in Japan. The premiere screening will take place on September 8 in Tokyo's Virgin Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills, which also happens to be the theater where Square Enix held its Final Fantasy XII debut presentation in late 2003. The film's creators will also be on hand to speak at the showing.

Following the premiere, Square Enix will show Advent Children at three cities from September 10 to 16: Virgin Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, Toho Cinemas Nagoya Bay City in Nagoya, and Toho Cinemas Nijou in Kyoto. The movie will be shown once per day beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the three locations.

Gamers without a Shinra Company membership or a ticket to the screening can still pick up Advent Children and watch it in the comfort of their own homes on September 14, when the DVD and UMD versions hit Japan and North America simultaneously. Both formats of the film will cost $29.99.

Really hope this stands up to the feature film effort.

Square are such one trick ponies! Every other game they do sucks ass, and FF has a very selective audience given how boring the games are. I'm not a fan at all. There best FF games were on the snes, they've all been kind of lame since.

I don't particularly think they have the material to pull off a movie, not one that makes much sense or has any story appeal anyway. They are perfectly capable of doing a "all looks and no brains" anime movie though :)

Well it looks very good so far, just from the stills and the trailer. I personaly think that the Spirits withing was a "all looks no brains" flick as well... But it did LOOK GREAT and that gose a long way in animation in my book.

I used to be a fan. the snes games rulled and then latter FF VII on ps1 was totaly cool.... I still think it is one of the best story lines I have ever seen in a computer game. Been playing all of them up till the last one (ten I think it was) on PS2. only got like 1.2 way though that and went.. fuck it... I swear I have done this all before :)
