ID a film from 80's

Hi new to the forum but was wondering if somene might help with a longstanding memory I have of a film which I believe was in the 1980s or late 70s. It seemed to be about a guy who wakes up in what I assume to be a disused hospital type of building and can't get out. He is bound and then operated on by what I remember to be aliens though I don't recall ever seeing them... there were a lot of robot controlled syringes, cutting, and the appropriate screams... I seem to recall it went on indefinitely and was pretty sparse with maybe just one actor in the entire film...

There was definitely an alien abduction kind of theme going on... its been so long but it has stuck in my head and I'd like to know what it was.

Any ideas???
