well I certainly did.
lemme divert you with an on topic post:
DRAG ME TO HELL
well...I'll say this: I was entertained. Oh, it was a silly, stupid movie. there was one moment (a seance) where I thought they were about to bust out the EVIL DEAD 2 routine (which would have been more entertaining, frankly). instead, the movie was laden with terrible dialogue, heavy handed circumstances (you'll know what I'm getting at in the first 5 minutes), and inept actors. alison lohman is hot. but she can't deliver a lick of dialogue. there are gross out moments. disgusting moments. nothing scary - and I don't like scary anyway so I didn't miss it, but that's still an awful condemnation of a horror flick. the titles were neat. the setup/prologue was decent. the rest of the movie was clichéd/unoriginal and poorly executed.
what was good:
the theater was nearly empty for a 9pm showing on saturday night (yikes!), but that also meant the 10-15 of us in the theater had a good time mocking the movie and laughing at each other's lines. my beauty of the night was when the girl escaped the "grasp" of a demon, ran upstairs, and then she (and raimi) made a point of emphasis that she closed and locked the door to her bedroom. I said "that always works" and everybody chuckled. there were other (better) ones, but that one was mine, so I remember it more vividly. anyway, that's the kind of fun this movie was. also, Justin Long is in it, and he's some sort of whiz kid professor or something. anyway, his office is littered with apple computers and an iphone. hint hint, wink wink. I think I already mentioned the seance thing looking like a moment in ED2/AoD ("I'll swallow your soul!"). there's this ridiculously rigid indian dude (who speaks fluent spanish); he has a penchant for inappropriate reactions and dialogue - although his introductory scene was good.
bottom line: horror movie that adds nothing to the genre, does nothing positive of note, is gross without being scary, thoroughly predictable, terrible acting, terrible dialogue. for genre fans only, if them.
And now I'm going to finish watching the last 20 mins of IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1967), which surprisingly holds its watchability (although I don't quite see the greatness involved in any of the performances).
Life ducks, and you sigh.
