so you enjoy that Renaissance Kingdoms? I've recently begun research on epic narratives and MMORPGs. started playing Guild Wars (cuz it's not a subscription service). holding off on WoW and LotR Online until I have time to actually play the things properly.

I'm specifically looking at "fantasy" mmorpg's that "reimagine" historical periods/literature and/or mix different ones. so I guess my real question is does it have the same rpg mechanics as the other three? and is it "total war historical" (actually pretty close)? or "age of empires historical" (not really at all)?

yeah ive been playing it for a while, its not a game as your thinking, its more of a historical management sim played completely in your browser, theres no real action as such

incidently i didn't know guild wars was a no subscription game?

oh. eesh. a sim. I tried caesar 3 once. wanted to kill myself.

yeah. it's subscription free. the game is "free" to install too. you have to have an account to play though, and each "expansion pack" is like a new campaign you pay to play. not significantly different from WoW or LotR. it's just that there's no clock on you once you go online. iunno it's kinda weak. you can create your own character, but all the characters look almost identical to each other (with blue instead of green hair or something).

edit: I have to admit, I was kinda surprised that I still had the feeling I was playing DRAGON WARRIOR from a "over the shoulder" perspective. I mean, I know it's called an RPG for a reason. I was just surprised cuz when you watch someone play, it looks nothing like Dragon Warrior. it looks like Dungeon Siege or something.

i don't like most sim games either, i only play this coz its browser and only takes about 5 mins a day, though i have been playing the new sim city societies which is pretty good, unlike most sim city games i've actually managed to get a city going this time , and there are special actions certain buildings can do, like an ice cream parlour can send out ice cream vans, a music shop can host concerts, and the house of horrors has 2 actions, it can unleash ghosts, or unleash zombies who turn your other sims into zombies too which is ace.

Also giving assassins creed a go, i'm enjoying it so far

Had a movie night recently.

Alien vs Pred 2 - OMG wat a pile of junk.. i couldn't even sit though it.. we spent have the time on the balcony smoking and the rest with our heads in the fridge getting a beer. Complete trash.. about the only good bit was when teh chick took of her clothing in the pool, but she turned out to be a skinny biatch with no ass... just like this movie. what a disapointment

Charlie Winstons War - freakn awesome. This movie is prob the best political film i have seen in ages. a real frank look at world politics and the true stories of major super powers funding covert wars around the globe.. No apologies in this film.... just hey this is wat we did and it worked (sorta)... qed look in your history book...

Bee Movie - Pass... wtf were we thinking.. lucky we wre all drunk by now and had a preety good time yelling commenst at the screen.

Funny Games - Remake

Hmm not to shabby. But like a lot of these "shot 4 shot" remakes... why the hell not just watch the original. I still think the original is a lot better. This one tends to show the killers in a way that is almost amusing, they even tell a joke. So either way a watered down version of the Austrian flick, i would just stick with that if you want a better experience. Do not get me wrong though, the us version pulls some pretty heavy punches... just not quite as hard as the original.

I just do not get these remakes... i mean I do not mind rehashing movies.. like say Halloween and Batman Returns, both being remakes of the first in their series.. but still being new films.... that i can understand.. if not really like... but a remake like this or Physco before it... what the hell is the point? It is like a American red dwalf or something.. I mean why?

The Brave One - what would happen if Charles Bronson was a lesbo? Well you would have this movie.. all in all pretty good i thought. Weak on the ending and some of the realities of the story but all in all we kinda enjoyed it.. was a little over it by the end.. but not a bad flick.

The Goodbye Girl - Awesome comedy form the 70's.. check it out... kinda a typical sample of US comedy form that time.. weird talking New York types live there life.. but this is not woody allen and it is a really enjoyable film.

Death Race 2000 - well wat do i need to say on this one.. nothing .. . more beer.. more call outs.. great time had by all.

CJ7 - freakn wierd movie but by now we were spread out a bit and i didn't really get this flick as it was subtitled and I was to drunk to really read it and beside i was in the other room a lot chatting up a girl.

meh i'll post the other 6 or so movies latter....

watched Hard To Kill earlier, i forgot about the best line in the movie, when senator turk is talking about taking it to the bank, and seagal just looks at the tv and says, in his usual quiet mumbling way

"i'm gonna take you to the bank senator turk... the blood bank"

watched the first ep of Headcases aswell.... it was shit

new smallville tonight. I don't think it's the finale, but I think this is the one that has a significant death in it. lionel or chloe are the obvious guesses. I think this is the last season that the current produces are going to be involved regardless of whether or not the show comes back next season.

no. but I haven't exactly been digging into any of this either. I skim Entertainment Weekly, and they gave a small blurb about smallville. the gist being what I posted above. I'm sure there's a lot more detail to be found at fan sites and such though.

been watching NHL playoffs (go rangers!) and MLB. still have ep2 of BSG dvr'd.

no. bowling is much faster than baseball. but you consume more beer at the baseball game, which is generally the point of most of these spectator sports, so it's either really good or really bad (not commenting on the actual game, mind you!)

SMALLVILLE was alright. I guess I'd even say it was good. but the ep was seriously undermined by years of soapy drivel so the series and theme (of the ep) lacked focus, believability, impact. previews for next ep (which I think is the finale - or part 1 of the finale) look intriguing (dvr actually cut out halfway through the previews but it involves braniac, kara, lex).

new bsg tonight. I'll prolly watch eps 2 & 3 back to back. I'm back to dl BSG, I've decided, cuz I don't get it in HD from my cable provider. and it takes like an hour to dl it in hd once it's sourced. so fuck you Time Warner Cable.
