I'm up early this morning and the day starts off way better than it did yesterday :D OK, since this isn't my personal blog I'll go straight to the point :P The retailer I bought that unfortunate 8800GTS from has explained that I can easily swap for another card at some later date when GTs will be in stock again (sold out every last one of them in hours as they've told me). While they don't practice refunding for the price difference I can either order some other parts to match the value of the card I'll be returning or just leave the remaining sum on my account and use that with later purchases :D They have even been so nice to give me heads up on upcoming 1024MB parts with higher clock speeds and 128 shader units. Nvidia has decided to name those parts 8800GTS to add to the confusion but as I get it that would mean current GTs have those 16 shader units artificially disabled and are terribly underclocked (prolly a bin two parts keeping bin one for the new GTS :?). Remember, they're new 65nm process parts ;) Anyway, it's also a good news for all of you that bought GTs today cuz there'll prolly soon be a BIOS update on some Russian site enabling those 16 units for you (either that or render it useless ). You gotta love new market conditions... retailers don't even care what parts they store as long as they still have paper value and they have your money in their pockets :wacky:

Update on britcoms as promised:

The Day Today: Got it and it's brilliant. Better than "Brass Eye" IMO ;)

Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em: Remembered this show after some searching. It's good but I find Crawford's role a bit annoying at times. I know that's the whole point and why it's funny in the first place (clumsiness to the spontaneous self-combustion levels) but I'll skip this show for the time being as I watched it on beebs not so long ago.

This morning with Richard Not Judy: I was quite pleased I downloaded the first season and the second one is in queue. Not the funniest show I've ever seen but still an essential part of any good britcom collection even tho it's not exactly a sitcom. But hey... they sit and communicate (that's what I thought "sitcom" stands for when I was still thumb sucking... you can prolly imagine what I thought "soap opera" stands for)

The detectives: Also remembered this show and have watched it on beebs once long ago. I can't give you my opinion of it cuz I don't really remember if it was any good. Anyway, will DL it in time.

Open All Hours & Porridge: Dunno how on Earth I didn't recognise those two titles. Sure I remember those shows :D I consider both as classics and a must have. Two more in queue ;)

The High Life: Got it and am still watching it ATM. Also downloaded the pilot episode that I don't think was ever aired at all as it doesn't include all the post-production content and is without the background laughter of the simulated live audience. Will let you know what I thought of it once I get through it. So far it's good but seems to be getting better with every episode :D

Rab C. Nesbitt: Also still watching it and what I saw was most excellent. Loads of laughs :D Got to that "trip to Spain" ep and it was hillarious... "look, snow" and Rab meeting his Spanish double

Monkey Dust: Still in DL. Watched the first ep and it was really good IMO. A bit on the dark side but I liked it.

Others in the list are waiting 'till I improve my share ratio on certain torrent site.

"Absolute Power" is rather interesting sitcom, funny with some gag moments even and is mainly adult-oriented political/social satire of this PR company spinning all and everything they can get paid for. Excellent cast (Stephen Fry, John Bird,...) and some really witty lines. It requires some getting used to and is rather fast-paced so don't give up on it after watching just the first ep ;)

i don't recall absolute power but i will have a look for it

By the way in the high life one of the later eps (i think 4 or 5) is a redone version of the pilot anyway with a few minor changes, some of my favourite moments from that series are, the stingray scene on the team building weekend, their entry into eurovision with "Pif Paf Pof (i want to have it off)", and in the final episode where they get kidnapped by the biscuit baron and captain Hilary Duff (a man) saves the day, his lines are priceless

Oh another scottish sitcom starring forbes masson (the ginger guy) is called My Dead Dad, but i don't fancy your chances on finding it (though if you do, let me know) about a guy (forbes) whose dad dies and comes back as a ghost and they are connected via what can only be described as an invisible umbelicle cord type thing, and basically he finds it a bit of an incovenience, for some reason tho if he gets drunk the cord can lengthen . Anyway it was better then im describing it lol, so if u find it try it

Only some half way through the second ep so far (which I believe I saw on TV once but don't remember much of it anyway) so you'll have to wait for the 1-12 points eurovision vote of my country I'm afraid  BTW, I've included IMDB link for "Absolute Power" in the title if that helps you any ;)

FTM: Also looking for "Trevor's World Of Sport". Any help in getting it wins you a free 8800GT upgrade to 8800GTS 640MB

Well, what I've read got me interested. Can't find it anywhere except for the radio play anyway. I'll try with that cuz it's been really long since I listened to a good radio comedy (if this one applies at all :?). I'm guessing it's not full of gag or laugh-out-loud moments but will prolly serve for a background noise distracting my daily routine just as well. Anyhow, will let you know how it was ;)

Watched the new BSG movie, Razor. I thought it was going to be kind of annoying and not really push things forward. However, i thought it was really quite entertaining and despite being set in "the past", it wasn't overly reliant on those annoying "brooding" flashback or any other lame techniques. The story was interesting, there was a bit of a warning/info on the 'present' and I wasn't annoyed. Recommended for BSG fans.

Watched south park which was excellent too; watch it or be ashamed.

what rip did you watch? aand was it any good (a/v quality)? I haven't seen it appear yet on my usual HD torrent or DVD torrent sites. I only saw a dvdscr at mininova. it's going to be my only BSG fix for the year, so I wanna "see it good," so to speak.

I've also been looking for a better than 700MB DVDScr rip yesterday but haven't found one :( I decided to download the one without any info on the ripper as the "HooKah" rip has been nuked:

[Nuke in XVID ] Battlestar.Galactica.Razor.DVDSCR.XViD-HooKah [bad.res_custom.quant.matrix]

Tho the one I downloaded (w/ hash C4FD53944A553B14C48C0664DC850539E4E26017) has the same resolution and the quality is similar to 350MB HDTV episodes rip. Other than that it looks to be OK.

The 700mb is better quality than the shitty 350mb hdtv rips, there are no water marks, could have done with more bits but its better quality than them.

Sure its 700mb for 1hr 30mins. AR, res is fine but it would have been better with a custom matrix but no... the scene rejects that.

@custom quant matrix is not a bad thing, its an extremely good thing, that's a bit of a shitty nuke because of the downright stubborness of the scene.

meh. respect. but I'm kind of looking forward to the remake cuz they'll do it campy like the sequels. ("book of the dead" version).

there is a evil dead remake? I thought that was a joke when i heard about is a year back or so.. like the ash, vs freddy vs jason

I thought BSG was canseled and no season 4.. did they make a telly move to round it up

delayed again? They are still listed as january on imdb:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407362/episodes#season-4

/me googles
Back to April :o

Did they say if they were going to split the final fourth season into two or not? I heard about plans for that. If its pushed back to April it sounds like they are planning on filming the entire series upfront (S4 is in production now, since some of the cast have been doing on set interviews).

I think they were talking about more tv movies too ;)

I heard that too tho I don't remember where exactly? IIRC writers argued for two more seasons but producers wanted to cut that in half. It's quite possible they opted for something in between the two options and we'll see 13 episode season 4 and another "TV movie" as a BSG finale (read: prolly two extended episodes like the ones that started the saga). But my guess is as good as anyones. EDIT: If you asks me the delay is prolly due to shooting the season 4 opening movie ;)

I think the WGA strike is supposed to impact "everyone." I can't imagine that BSG would not be affected as well. I am certain that it's not just movies; it's tv series too.

What are the reasons for the WGAW strike anyway? I read a few news articles on that but am still a bit confused. What do they want besides more money cuz their children are starving? Recognition for crap they make and more time to do it? Heated toilet seats perhaps?

my guess is it's something to do with health insurance, copyright and backend/residual money. the deal with alan moore and his inability to gain publishing rights to his own creation (watchmen) sticks in my mind.
