at least i get to play the game in the end

anyway just finished watching 28 weeks later, quite frankly i found it mostly boring, it had its ocassional moments but overall it was slow and dull.

The camerawork especially was shit and looked like an mtv dance video, robert carlyle was absolutely shit in it, the wife was meh, the supporting characters were a bit daft, and overall the only real decent characters were the kids... and they didnt really do much other then run and scream a lot

fair enough. ;)

holy fuckstick. I just got a Wii, and while I consider Nintendo the best quality consoler by far, I'm pretty goddamn annoyed that it only comes with a composite rca video connector. not even s-video? what is this? 1992? maybe we can bring back betamax while we're at it. :?

I finished watching Invasion. I kind of liked it. it had a great setting and the potential was there although it tended to drag its feet.

I don't understand why it was cancelled, and shows like shitty Jericho stayed on the air dispite much, much lower viewing figures. It makes no sense.

yeah, you have room to talk... you watch about 5 billion of the shittiest shows known to man. i say watch, I mean bought and worship

Invasion was slow in parts, but was pretty well rounded in the end. Some good moments and there's some violence in the end with the action becoming increasingly frequent as was the

The elements had a big bit of appeal to me, as I keep mentioning I like original set pieces and the environments and setting of the show was much more appealing that utter shite fests like, say Jericho.

But then some tools think Twin Peaks is boring, so its all down to your attention span and how much buy into the attempts at establishing tone, style and atmosphere.

Invasion is certainly not that shit, i fear you may just have got used to a diet of bad tripe :googlely:

It would be worth sticking with if there was another series, but your just left missing conclusions with the show as it is anyway.

I watched the show in two parts, the first 6 or so episodes in the first week of october, then since all the other shows had stopped and i finally got some decent rips downloaded and all sitting on my NAS watched the rest over the past few weeks.

I have S1 of Dexter on DVDrs i got from news, i've heard its very good from a few people.

couldn't even get through the first paragraph of spud's post before I replied. that's hysterical! nice!

never watched invasion or surface, and for some reason I associated the two. anyway, I'll tell you exactly why they were canceled: they were on CBS and NBC respectively (I think). Genre shows cannot survive on network TV. those channels are the definition of mainstream. everything is the lowest common denominator. FOX used to be edgy, but they've since blown-up (even though the idiots keep trying new series and then killing them when they don't turn into simpsons or x-files). that's why futurama and family guy didn't last. they're all genre/niche shows. I guarantee you that BSG would not have gotten a s2 if it were an NBC show. hell, they chose not to give it a s1 (on NBC; that's why they have that cable channel called sci/fi). it's a minor miracle that jericho got reupped by CBS, which is trying to go younger these days. But it's 90% guaranteed to get pulled.

heroes is the ONLY recent show I can think of that bucks this trend, and I suspect the success of heroes has a lot to do with why CBS is trying to cultivate jericho.

watched superman returns. the only thing I liked about superman was the music, and the only think I liked about superman 2 was the music and the plot (i.e., NOT the script or the acting). so it's always with some surprise that I enjoy this movie that takes the former 2 with such reverence. I always think of Jynks' reaction to the movie, which was "there's no action" or "superman doesn't do anything superman-like." this, of course, is not true. the action is pretty consistent throughout the movie. everything superman could possibly do against a human opponent</i> in terms of using his powers, he does. and to top it all off, he lifts an entire continent and throws it into space. so no, if there's a problem with the movie, it has nothing to do with superman performing superman feats. frankly, the only thing he didn't do was reverse time by changing the rotation of the earth, which was quite possibly the dumbest plot mechanism in a superhero movie I have ever seen. and yo! I'll even include transformers in that statement. even the killer klowd from outter space in RotSS and the giant cloud of rage in hulk are better plot devices, and we all know what I think of those shining monuments to comicbook retardation. my guess is people are offended by the superboy plant, the fact that routh will never be reeve, kate bosworth as lois lane (definitely not my choice either, but she doesn't embarrass herself), or the fact that the movie isn't a mind bleeding travesty by taking itself and its audience seriously. I mean, a lot of people liked transformers, right? I can't wait until that movie turns into the next armageddon, and nobody will admit to having liked it.

i was there first, i didn't like armageddon when it came out, and i was one step ahead of everyone else

i liked surface actually, after all the goings on though the ending was pretty shit, i think people (including me) join surface and invasion together is they arrived at the same time and were similar styles, but invasion was really just body snatchers.. AGAIN and im sick of that film being constantly raped, im not even a big fan of the film but christ does it have to be done to death in every medium ever, theres even ANOTHER sequel coming out later this year or 2008

so is they live. I dare you to talk shit about that, bitch. :wacky:

I don't have a problem with the body snatchers premise. it's almost as genre-defining as the distopian (future) stuff. it can still be done and done well. not that I even saw an ep of invasion cuz it was on network tv, and I automatically assumed some bland sci-fi attempt at csi, law & order, or er (like medium) cuz those are the only three dramas network stations re-up. s'why it took me half a season before I watched heroes.

CW shows can still have some edge to them cuz they're a tiny station that'll take a niche if they can. but now I'm back on that again. my bad.

They Live isn't body snatchers, they don't kill and replace, they simply add themselves into society, plus it has rowdy roddy piper in :P

Anyway it's not that i despise the body snatchers idea overall, its more the way its constantly redone over and over again, with no real differences at all.

Ironically though of all the body snatchers my favourite is the one with christopher reeve which is a remake, but the first remake, the rest are simply un-needed

also i didn't get into heroes til ep 5 had aired, i just decided to give it a go and watch them

Been watching Fonejacker

As you say Body Snatchers was beaten by a sequel anyway so that's just shit on that one

The Spock one is still the best :p

Firstly i'm a firm believer that signs was utter shit, and such comments makes you sound like a Signs fan, and by association you should have been drown at birth for having such shitty taste.

Anyway, iirc you see the aliens falling from the sky in the very first episode, and the hybrids for nearly all of every episode of for the entire series. You even see em on the logo:

You get full glipses of the things in the water more and more as the series progresses, its not like they didn't "do a signs":

"those gay little light things"

Click the images, if they are this then they are, if they aren't this they aren't. They looked more like sea food than gay little light things to me. The hybrids obviously looked like people, except the women they were pregnant... they looked more like chestburster victims. :googley:
