i have to agree, scanners is an awesome film

watched Android Apocalypse (2006), it wasn't bad, nice to just veg to before bed, even if it did have WWE wrestler Chris Jericho (no that isn't any link to the other Jericho ) and it occurs to me, other than Hulk Hogan & The Rock, every movie containing a wrestler has them as a cyborg... this said starring him,
Spoiler:
he "dies" after 15 minutes

I don't recall any cyborgs in they live. or in princess bride. unless you count rowdy roddy's robotic line delivery. :wacky:

erm.... well....... shut up, so i forgot about roddy, and andre (it is him in princess bride isn't it?)

and i just watched The Marine, which stars current WWE wrestler John Cena, no cyborgs in that either so it kinda blows my theory out the water

also watched latest Heroes and it was fucking excellent

watched heroes and the black donnellys. and I'm quite angry.

oh, the eps were good and all. but they're putting Heroes on spin cycle until april 23. wtf! march is generally the big push time for tv season. everything pretty much wraps in april. iunno. this horseshit pisses me off. it's like they're daring me not to watch television. "I dare you not to make me money. And just so you realize this is for real, I'm going to arrange the broadcast schedule so that you won't tune-in next week."

Not much different round the globe ;) It's the prospect of self-absorbed morons making it on air that serves like a dunk trap for the flies

Watching "V" now and I like it :D OK, so it's shot like it was 100 years old and acting ain't much better but hey... it's a sucky B grade Sci-Fi series, how can I resist? Just... reptilians ruling the world... how's that Sci-Fi? Didn't they watch that "Bullshit!" episode showing G.B.J. as a reptilian?

Not much different round the globe

Here in the uk we make the series, all of it, then we show the series, all of it. Every timeslot, on the same day, at the same time, for the entire series.

The only time I recall a delay was when we caught up with an american show, where they had decided randomly to delay some episodes and then halted production whilst the american schedule caught up and then they made the rest of the series.

Can you not remember BSG S1? it was on every week until completion, on the same channel, at the same time.

I watched Scanners in the end, gonna watch scanners two tonight methinks.

I bought a nintendo DS yesterday, I got resident evil for it and i love it... although cos its a portable the saving isn't ideal, if you have to say close it down quickly at the end of the train journey you'd have it on sleep all day.

Game is a great port of the best of the original games, its director's cut with some touch sensitive puzzles and some action scenes where you get attacked by zombies and have to swipe a knife across the screen to kill enemies. Its my favourite favourite RE game after RE4 and RE: Rebirth :)

im tempted to get a DS also, but the only game i really want is the RE one and while i am the RE fanboy, i don't know if it can be deemed worthy enough to spend £100 on a DS for it, especially in march when my insurance, tax and mot all come up for renewal for my car and its also my dads birthday.,... the day after their anniversary, and then a week or so later its mothers day and also my best mates birthday inbetween.... march is a very expensive month for me, moreso then freakin' christmas

Spud, would that series in question be Babylon 5 by any chance? i seem to recall Channel 4 had to halt it coz america was too retarded to make enough episodes to complete the season

the way we do things is so much more l33t

Me corrects myself: ... Not much different round the globe except for the UK ;)

I think the problem - as far as the rest of the world is concerned - resides in the fact that many if not most of other countries' commercial TV stations send their stuff to the US so they'd learn how to produce money or shit... Funny, cuz maybe that's how US based TV stations make so much money in the first place -- selling idiots the know-how they don't have

UK r0015! :D

well you would've thought most of eastern europe and the former soviet union would be ok for complete series, after all Miami vice, magnum pi, knight rider, they have all been complete for years and they are jsut getting them

"ja we just get the miami wice on the television, hey Miami wice is number one new show"

Well, I've just got "V" hehe  I guess it's pretty normal for the countries once behind the iron curtain to air much of "the good old" like it was new as we write, cuz it was banned/censored in prev regimes. As I see it I'd say that Chech Republic, Poland and Croatia air the most recent stuff, others are either too small to air/get all the newer stuff or were really hit awfully with former regimes and have plenty to catch-up :( ... Miami Vice? Awful I say and the movie is most probably the main culprit they even went with the old series... They'd be better off with Sledge Hammer 8)

...which reminds me -- WTF happened with this weeks "Life On Mars"? Didn't you just boast some post prev to this UK airings are l33t? Been reading on this something there was like a repeat of 2x3 yesterday on BBC1 and now BBC4 crawls behind with prev ep and that 2x4 will air next Tuesday? Is that correct?

I think the real difference is that most of the good stuff in the uk is from the bbc, which is publicly owned or some such? it's tv for the people rather than tv for the corporate execs. as for the rest of the world, I think the US exports a great deal of programming and the corporations that own the US subsidiaries also own the companies in other countries, so between those two factors, it's pretty natural that they'd fall in line with US-type retardation.

it's not all like that here. there are those premium cable channels like hbo and showtime that produce really top notch series that are not restricted by broadcast censors or the obligatory commercials every 10-15 minutes or the ridiculous on-again-off-again schedules. but those are pay services. they make their money on subscription fees. and the average "season" is only 12-14 new eps as opposed to 20-24 (I think that leads to more tightly constructed plots, and w/o commercials, you get a solid 55 minutes per week instead of 45, but there is something to be said for getting 22 installments of your favorite drug instead of 12).

iunno. the system is broken and annoying. but I don't think you're a retard, for example, for watching teaser previews for upcoming eps or for watching something when it's broadcast instead of waiting for the torrent with commercials stripped.

sledge hammer rules, the miami vice movie was shit and i hate it and i wish it was dead

Life on mars has had to repeat due to last weeks bbc1 episode being postponed for some reason, so it didn't air the irish ep (2x03) on bbc1 til yesterday, and bbc4 couldn't get too many eps infront, so i think they had to repeat until next week or something, thats what the tv paper said anyway

I've always used the vcr and now the dvr, so there's really no need to go to the internet unless it's something I missed. fast forwarding through commercials is no big deal at all. I guess I might change my tune a bit now that there are hd torrents and I can watch the eps in the same hd quality that I get on the dvr. but then the dvr method gets me the eps a few days ahead of the x.264 transcodes.

if im honest i just get them coz im really too lazy to remember they're on tv at the time, plus my tv is some crappy shit and gives me a headache when i watch it coz its that shit, i swear it must have a refresh rate of 2, coz its gay and shit, and i want to beat it with TNT, granted that would be more sort of blowing it up rather then beating it

Much the same situation with me, Max ;) I don't have a fire-place or that how'z't called that you hang dead animals' heads on... so my old TV set serves to put shit on display (like scented candles and other "must haves" so chicks won't get the right impression I'm a total geek LOL)... I've built two silent rigs that I nearly sleep with (the one I sleep with for real isn't nearly as silent) and all I watch is either on LCDs that I usually turn to where I fall asleep eventually (that would depend on how drunk I got that eve) or it's a real-life drama  Oh, me remembers the days... I used to watch Never mind the Buzzcocks too once, once or twice even that "we're gay and 'll do your kitchen" BBC show that they ran over with a van in one ep of TLoG ;) Even "My name is Kate" hehe... BBC's cool stuff (for a national TV that is). Thanks for that LoM info, looking fwd to the next Tuesday then... Cheers!
