Movie files convert to Ipod

Does anybody know any good programs that can be used to convert Files & DVD to Ipod format? I just bought a 80 gig Ipod and love it. I am having a hard time deciding on what I can use to convert some files I have and DVD's that I have bought to be put on my Ipod. Its all a big learning curve for me so any help and direction would be great.

Does anybody have a link for this program? It is a very hard program to find with good seed.
