argh, drat. My isp doesn't cache that boneless newsgroup for long, some people will still be ok and those with a paid usenet account will be good for 30-90 days but for me it's been flooded out of my isp's usenet cache already. It's a pity the uploader didn't crosspost it to other groups, crossposting to several groups is recommended - if you do it at the same time, you only have to upload once.
I grabbed the first 3 disc's ok but the others I got lots of incomplete rars, way to much missing to be able to fix it using the pars as I normally do.
For your info, I used a torrent to finish it off so as to not waste the bits I have downloaded already - someone may find it useful so here's how you do it. In this case the rars in the torrent are in folders so here's 2 ways to do this depending on your BT client and your settings
1, make folders named CD1, CD2 etc and then move the rars into them. All the "rld-lj2a" files into CD1 folder , all the "rld-lj2b" info the CD2 folder, all the "rld-lj2c" into the CD3 etc etc. Click the torrent and when it says where to save your download point it to the root folder that contains those CD1,CD2 subfolders. BT will hash check through the files and will continue any that are incomplete.
2, Click the torrent and let it start for a minute just so it creates the folders and files, then close down BT. Next copy all the files from usenet into the respective folders replacing the newly created rars with the downloads from the newsgroups. Then restart BT and it checks the rars and continues any that are incomplete.
.. a bit of messing around but it saved downloading a couple of gigs from p2p and gave me a nice head start
